"Don't stay here!"

1.0

The view and location. The birds nesting under the eaves. Number of bedrooms.

The entire house was filthy, reeked of damp and mildew. Large sofa had collapsed in the corner. Beds were uncomfortable. No heating in one of the double bedrooms so the damp smell was atrocious. Triggered asthma and coughing fits. When a 12 year old complains that they don't want to switch on a lamp as it's too dirty that is a major problem.Shower in the private bathroom is thick with black mould under the trim. Doors were tight against furniture when opening in some of the rooms so you had to step to the side to be able to close them. If we had been able to get alternative accommodation for less than £900 for the two nights then we would not have stayed in the property at all. If we did not have commitments in the area over the weekend, we would have gone straight home. We were conned by the booking and now understand why there is no cancellation without incurring the full cost of the booking. I am not concerned about furniture being worn etc as you expect that type of thing is holiday let's but you do expect properties to be clean especially at £410 for two nights. There was also marked damage in the kitchen so if you do stay here make sure you take lots of photos when you arrive like we did. Unfortunately some of the issues did not photograph that well. Believe me when I say that I could have taken a lot more... The parking is the length of the back of the house. There is an apparently abandoned static caravan at the side with a little boat behind it so watch out for the tow bar sticking out. Door is around the side facing front. You are only renting the downstairs so don't be fooled by the photos showing two levels. Basically, do yourself a favour and book elsewhere until the property has been deep cleaned and mould treated. When I contacted the owner this morning, the attitude was that no-one else had ever complained.

"Friendly owner, beautiful location and good sized property which was good value for money."

7.0

Location was good with spectacular views from the living room / front of the house. Good flexibility as we had 2 double and 2 twin rooms so plenty of options for sleeping

my only disappointment would be around the property being more dated that I expected - would be perfect otherwise. The showers weren't modern so not very powerful and general cleanliness could have been a bit better a biscuit wrapper behind bedside cabinet etc.

"Decent and enjoyable for the most part but not entirely perfect."

6.0

The location was decent enough. The beach front is a 2 minute walk across the main road. Very quiet location . A nice view looking out in the morning from the bedroom window.

There was some issues with the 2 bathrooms. One of them needed some plumbing repairs and the showers were a little bit weak, not ideal if your planning on staying for more than a couple of nights. The property would benefit from a little bit of a modern makeover although the kitchen was fine and had everything that is usually needed. Some more attention to general cleaning and maintenance probably needed. Some of the listed amenities are actually several miles away.

"Nice house with great views"

8.0

The location is sensational. The views from the house across to Arran are amazing.

There were a couple of things in the house that didn't work perfectly, though they were still functional.
