Mole Cottage

A lovely cottage, with entry from a rear alley. The owners have made sure there is everything we needed and everything worked ok. Would definitely recommend.

What's not to like?

It has tons of character , very pretty. It was ideally located for the art course we were attending close by .

An upstairs bathroom would have been wonderful but we were very happy with the downstairs arrangement as it was .

Charming cottage in pretty countryside with room for up to four people comfortably. Well appointed kitchen and all necessary facilities. Easy access to Newcastle within half an hour’s drive, and good for exploring the North Pennines

The bathroom is quite a long way from the bedrooms which might be a problem for some people. Parking spaces outside tended to be occupied so it could be difficult to park right near the property

Property has the potential to be lovely, cute stone cottage, lots of character. Gorgeous massive fireplace. Very comfy bed

Nice enough stay but could have been easily improved. There was no welcome pack with information which would have been helpful. The lounge has a gorgeous fireplace but only a few logs supplied and no information of where to buy more from. The lounge was quite cold as well, despite the heating being on and the upstairs being very warm. The kitchen had what you needed but would benefit from some serving spoons, a decent oven glove and some surface spray. The shower unit was quite small and the shower head needed a good clean. The main bedroom would benefit from an additional bedside lamp too. Parking wasn't as easy as the booking information suggested. Whilst there is space for 2-3 cars down the side road, these were taken, and the 2 spaces opposite were across a busy A road and again often taken. There is parking further into the village but the lack of parking is likely a big issue for some people.

Cottage is cosy and has original features. The main bedroom is large and has storage. There is firewood for the fire and tea/coffee in the kitchen. The train station is close and there a lots of lovely walks within a short drive or when walking from the cottage.

If arriving in the dark like we did, it is very dark walking behind the cottages to get to the key lock. It is mentioned on the description of the property, however the ground is also a little uneven.

Host were amazing.

The cottage is amazing, and Nick was very easy and friendly to deal with. Check in was a breeze and location was great!

Parking was a bit tricky, so it was a bit of a walk but definitely not a deal breaker!

small kitchen, only one bathroom which was downstairs, faulty kettle switch was unnerving
