Excellent location outside of town

Our little cottage on Ironstone Farm was spectacular. The kitchen was basic but was stocked with everything we needed. We spent our time outside on the patio, in the hammock or the pool, braaiing and stargazing from the firepit. The perfect spot from which to run, hike or ride the surrounding area. Just a short drive on a sand road to get into town. Can't wait to come back

There was nothing we didn't love! Including the pets that came past to check us on once or twice a day.

We loved the setting of the cottage and the atmosphere of the surrounding Karoo!

Everything was perfect and clear, from before arrival, during the stay and after the stay, it was clean comfortable and everything and more that what we expected. Love the location and nature, we recommend to all. We are also planning another trip just because of the venue.

I loved this place. We were only overnighting on a trip from the Free State to the Western Cape, but I could've stayed for days. It was a truly restful break. We sat in the pool next to our braai, ate delicious wors from the farm, watched the colours changing over the hills and foliage. In the morning I enjoyed a short walk. There is plenty of space to park a large vehicle and trailer

Everything! The beauty, the peace and tranquility, the simple abundance. We fell in love with the place. We will def. go back. Next time, just for longer.

We recently stayed at this self-catering cottage and overall had a really enjoyable experience. The cottage itself is charming, clean on arrival, well equipped, and perfectly located for a peaceful getaway. The surroundings are beautiful, the atmosphere relaxing, and it truly feels like a home away from home. However — and it deserves to be mentioned both in the title and the review — there is a serious ant infestation. The ants were absolutely everywhere. From the kitchen counter and sink to the bathroom, inside the toilet area, and even crawling over the toilet paper. No matter how clean we kept the space or how carefully food was stored, the ants continuously appeared throughout our stay. It’s clear that this is not just an occasional issue but an ongoing infestation that needs proper attention. While we understand that insects can be part of nature, especially in certain regions, the extent of the ants made daily use of the cottage uncomfortable at times. That said, the cottage itself has great potential and many positives — comfortable accommodation, a pleasant setting, and everything you need for self-catering. With a decent pest control and better management of the ant problem, this place could easily be outstanding.

The main issue during our stay was the ant infestation. Ants were present throughout the cottage — on the kitchen counter, around the sink, in the bathroom, and even inside the toilet area and on the toilet paper. Despite keeping food sealed and maintaining cleanliness, the ants constantly returned. While we understand that insects can occur in nature, the scale of the problem made parts of the stay uncomfortable and clearly requires proper pest control attention.
