Casa Da Oliveirinha

I booked this hotel for one night during the Camino. I arrived pretty late (at 17:30) at the property, as I had a tough walk on a very hot day plus I got lost. It was great to arrive at Casa da Oliveirinha, which has a beautiful garden and a terrace with deck chairs to relax. My room was beautifully decorated, spotless and very comfortable. The bathroom was also impeccable with a blissful shower. I had the very nice dinner with two other lovely guests who were also doing the Camino. I had an early night as I was exhausted and wanted to get back onto the Camino the next day.

Unfortunately, our stay was far from relaxing. While the property itself had potential, the experience was overshadowed by the host’s constant presence. We felt like we had no privacy at all—he would enter the space without notice, turn off lights behind us in the bathroom, and overall made it difficult to feel comfortable or at ease. We were not given keys to the accommodation, which was unusual and inconvenient. On arrival, the host even asked us to help him make the beds in our own room, which felt quite inappropriate and unprofessional. Throughout the stay, he persistently tried to upsell us on extras like dinner and wine (with a single glass priced at €5), even after we politely declined multiple times. He insisted we join him for a “wellness” experience, which turned out to be access to his private, rather unappealing steam sauna—charged at €26, without prior warning or a visible price list. Even basic things like bottled water were tallied and billed at the end. There was no clear breakdown of costs, and no receipt was provided, which raises questions about transparency and proper business practices. To make matters worse, during breakfast the host would stand right next to us and watch us eat, which felt incredibly awkward and invasive. Overall, it was an uncomfortable experience. While some travelers might appreciate a more “host-involved” stay, we found it intrusive, overly commercialized, and lacking the professionalism expected from a proper accommodation provider.

The room was in an annex and we were the only guests so felt the ehole property was ours, not sure how it would fel if full. Sunbeds were nice to enjoy the gardens. Meals provided were delicious. Fridge with drinks and snacks available and reasonably priced. We were told to take the bread and cheese from breakfast for our lunch - nice touch.

Very remote, we had to eat at the property as we were walking the Camino and had no transport. This did add a couple of extra miles to our day total but the house was beautiful so we didn't mind. We had pre-booked the meals - it would help to have a menu shared or ask if you have preferences - the meal was fish pie and I do not really eat fish. A choice really should be on offer. The host was very chatty - be prepared, we liked it but not everyone does.

Excelent facilities Well spotted within Caminho de Santiago Steam bath available upon a fee Excelent evening meal available also upon a well worth fee as it is homemade food - bio vegetables etc The host and his wife readiness to help and at a distance of a quick phone call. We rented the 3 bedrooms available, so we managed to have the house only for ourselves which was an incredible experience.

I think the obvious answer is that a pool within that beautiful house would be the cherry on the top of the cake, but I only say this because you’re asking.

A bit off the Camino but a beautiful place to stay. Fernando was very solicitous.

Dog shit everywhere in the beautiful garden. Bed was awful very old matrass.
