Casa Da Oliveirinha

The property is lovely. A beautiful house with nice decor, clean and cozy. That being said, it is not a place to find serenity. My mother and I are doing the Camino and as pilgrims after a long day want a place to relax and the owner of the property does not exactly allow for this. I would not recommend for pilgrims or solo travelers given that the owner is a bit intrusive.

The owner is quite controlling and he seemed to be present more often than not during our stay. He was present most of the time we were having our meals both dinner and breakfast despite my reluctance to converse. We found the pilgrim meal to be expensive. It is double the price of most places around and does not include wine like most other pilgrim meals. There is also a fridge that is stocked with beverages but the prices are not stated anywhere, more transparency would be nice. Our passports were kept overnight which is something that I've not experienced before and seemed unnecessary. We found it difficult to enjoy any time in the common areas in general due to his sensitivities. We were reprimanded for leaving the door to the garden open for a few seconds and a drop of coffee falling from the kettle when I was serving myself so we were on edge trying not to do anything that would disturb him. A note for any that wish to take advantage of the massage. Be sure to inquire about the massage and agree to off-limit or sensitive areas ahead of the massage given that he can be a bit pushy. If you have trauma or sensitive areas I would not recommend. I left more tense than I entered.

The location and building were beautiful, breakfast and dinner were great and Fernando was extremely helpful especially when one of us got sick - he went out of his way to help and get us back on track.

Beautiful grounds , incredible garden. Quiet and serene. Lovely home.

Distance out of town for pilgrims.Request for lift back to camino trail ignored in pouring rain ( had seen previous comments where this was offered) Over attentive host. Cost of meal / wine if required. Passports held for several hours to process and returned only when requested.

Very clean accommodation and nicely landscaped.

The food and wine were extremely expensive compared to other Casas or hotels. We paid for a more expensive room but were given a more modest room for the same price. The owner was controlling and there was not a lot of freedom to enjoy the place

The location was 1 km off the Camino route and very peaceful location but isolated from services

No credit card facility available and this should have been emailed prior to arrival. Check every price before you order, one load of washing was bill led at 56 euro, dinner 26 euro. I disclosed that we wanted to know what was for dinner and I did not eat seafood. Arrived fish pie with prawns . No consideration for food preferences. Owner hovered around a lot and it was harder to relax after a long hard walk. Does not take the feedback on board. Make sure you are well cashed up before arrival our most expensive stay to date.

Lovely property but very isolated…

Felt like we had checked into the Bates Motel… Host hovered us the whole time… Having to pay the bill in CASH !! Terrible mattress and pillows. Dinner supplied did not cater to diet restrictions(sales cod stew) E26 pp Laundry VERY expensive Red wine starting at E28

The property is lovely, with great views of the countryside. We stayed in a building separate from the hosts, with a large living room and bedrooms upstairs. The room was modern and well appointed with a comfortable bed. We bought dinner at the Casa, which was delicious, but very expensive by local standards. Our host is an interesting man and he takes every opportunity to pursue a conversation. You will need to ask for privacy if you want to relax or converse with a traveling companion.
