Cornhill Castle

Comfortable bed, great hot tub, lovely staff. We liked the decor and way the lodge had been furnished and the hotel building was beautifully decorated. The lodge was warm. Plenty of car parking.

Storage in the lodge is a bit wanting - I had to hang my dress from a door frame as the wardrobe was too short (and the doors are not easy to slide) - I’m sure this could be improved. The shower is small, considering the available space in the bathroom. It’s only possible to enter and exit the bed by sliding in and out from the foot of the bed, as the space around the sides can’t be more than 6 inches. We put the cushions from the bed on the sofa. However, if using the sofa bed, space for storage was really limited. On our first morning, a wedding party from the night before had exclusive use of the breakfast room. We were sat on our own in a bar area, where staff were constantly passing through, removing wedding paraphernalia from the night before and bringing in incoming decor for that day’s wedding. Not ideal at all and we weren’t offered any cereal or toast. We had been offered continental breakfast in the lodge, but it wasn’t what we were looking for at £230/night.

Limited wine list at dinner and wine out of stock. A shame as the food was excellent. Not shampoo/conditioner in the shower. Limited choice of tea/coffee in room.

Expensive for what it was. Single female in furthest away lodge with a badly lit path to get back to it.

Wallpaper hanging off bedroom ceiling. Bed very uncomfortable mattress in serious need of replacing. no indication that there was cooked food, two menus on table both for continental and not accurate as stated selection of bread, there was no bread. When we had selected our cold breakfast the waitress came and asked us to order hot food, she did not tell us what was on menu, very disappointing. We wouldn't stay there again.

The location was our favorite

Room was lovely. Spacious and clean with a large en-suite. The jacuzzi bath was a lovely bonus surprise. Staff were helpful and friendly at all hours Food in the evening was really nice.

Food service was very slow. Breakfast was basic and somewhat less than hot.
