Estancia Hosteria El Ceibo

Beautiful peaceful location and the farm feels authentic and alive. José took his time to show us around a bit, which we really appreciated. We joined a special holiday barbecue event one day, was absolutely delicious!

The place is rustic and nice but for the price you pay some of the facilities would need an upgrade. A pricelist with transparent prices upfront would also be good, it was for example hard to know if an invitation for coffee was an actual invitation or something we would have to pay for.

A very authentic ranch/estancia devoted to tourists. Riding horses everyday. Great food. Nice people.

if you want a rural setting miles from anywhere with amazing hosts this is the place. it’s a fair drive from Florida and the accommodation is basic but wow is it worth it just to soak up that peace an quiet. The hosts cooked us an amazing meal and took time to show us their ranch . I only wish we had more than one night.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner were very good with an opportunity to talk with other guests from many different countries. Beef & lamb were BBQ'd on the traditional Uruguay wood BBQ. Carman was very friendly, warm and welcoming. Her husband, Jose spent a lot of time with us taking us on a truck tour of the grounds & forest, showed the party room with antiques, took us horseback riding 2 days, watched the sheep dog herd the sheep, watched armadillo run from the dogs, and given the opportunity to watch Mario catch, humanely kill & clean a sheep. We don't speak Spanish, but Carman speaks good English. Jose speaks enough English for us to communicate. This was the estancia stay we were hoping to experience. Highly recommend this estancia.

It was a fantastic experience! A great taste of a typical “Uruguayan rural property”. A very nice place, designed to relax. Comfortable room and very good meals. We had an excellent dinner, an “Asado”, surrounded by a great atmosphere. The owners, Carmen and Joselo, are adorable persons. People you can talk with for hours, hearing lots of interesting stories, and learning quite a lot.
