The 11km of gravel

All meals were excellent quality, tasty, varied and well prepared. Hosts were excellent, very attentive and helpful. Fantastic views from the lodge and nice walks in the area.

The amount of alien trees on the property detracted from the natural beauty, but it is a big problem to address.

We really enjoyed the peaceful location with it's stunning views of the Drakesberg. We were very fortunate with the weather. The hosts really made us welcome and it was just what we needed to unwind and relax. The food was delicious. We also enjoyed the swimming pool after a long hot walk.

The foot paths are a little unclear at times and maybe need some mainentance in some areas but the trails have stunning views.

But the road to the property was terrible, particularly the last 500m after the gate. I would never have booked this place if I knew how difficult it was to get there. The worst is that there is no information on the information page when booking and no refund if cancelling. I received a message the day before our arrival "The last 11 km to the lodge is a gravel road. This SHOULD not pose a problem if driven with due care, except for low profile vehicles." This is actually cheating not informing of this beforehand.
