we haven't stayed for 2 years, but i can assure you the quality has not changed. My husband took me for a 2 night stay to celebrate my 70th birthday, it was fantastic, the level of service is 1st class, and the food, perfect, both dinner and breakfast. Thank you so much to Josh, Louis (who is a little diamond) and Sona at the bar, unfare to pick individuals as all the staff were perfect. I hope its not another 2 years before we come again, thank you.

"A Yorkshire Gem"

10.0

I am from Scarborough but have lived in the South for over 30 years. My husband and I were in Scarborough on family business and chose the Wrea Head Hall as I remembered it from my childhood. We were not disappointed! It is a beautiful hotel with stunning grounds and a warm, friendly atmosphere. We were very impressed with the mainly young staff who were enthusiastic, proud and knowledgeable about the hotel and its history. What really stood out is the fabulous food! We have eaten at several of The Pig hotels here in the South East and I can honestly say the food at the Wrea Head Hall beats The Pig hotels! Andrew, the chef has been at the hotel for 25 years which in the hospitality sector is very rare. A wonderful, wide and varied menu with every course a culinary treat: greatly supported by an extensive, interesting and reasonably priced wine list. The room was spotlessly clean with a beautiful vintage style bed and a wonderful shower- which got a shouted out WOW! from my husband who loves a good shower! It was a fabulous if short stay and we will definitely be staying there again because it ticked all of our particular boxes!

"A nice restful hotel"

6.0

We were invited here to stop with friends and were not disappointed, a beautiful building which was an Old "Manor"house. It was well kept and manicured lovely, but the bar area was ultra modern slightly out of place for an old building we thought. Booked an upgrade to room No 5 but would have called this room a comfy room as quite small, but we had 2 single beds but were 4 foot wide, perfect for myself who has medical issues. Nice bathroom and shower. Only thing which was missing was the bottles of water. As 72 year old been to many a hotel this was the first time no water in room. As a medical issue for the wife she does not drink tap water and always carry bottled water around with us so not a problem for us. (friends had booked the same level of room as us and was nearly twice the size). Two minor issues with the meals, first the evening meal, the food was out of this world what we ordered, but we asked for a bottle of white wine. It came in an empty wine bucket and on tasting the wine it was not chilled, we got it changed without any problem, the 2 nd bottle was how it should have been nicely chilled. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had (a full english but was all quality ingrediants), the only problem for me was one of the items was fried bread (take it or leave it) I have not had this for many a year and was looking forward to this, but on arrival it was covered with the baked beans leaving it soggy, thus I left it. Yet again it is one of a few hotels which does not put baked beans in a bowl, which I find is a great idea so you can add BB's when and how you want to. Taking every thing into account we had a fantastic stay and would certainly go back again, as nice gardens to walk around (when the weather allows it).

"First Class!"

10.0

We had booked this last minute and I was surprised to get a room. I had checked the reviews before hand and decided to go. We were not disappointed. We were greeted with warm reception from a lovely lady called Laura who showed us around and organised the cream tea in the conservatory. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had room 8 and this was booked as luxury room. We were both delighted with the room. See photos. We had ordered dinner as came with the package. A three course meal. Lamb terrine for starters, ravioli for mains and creme brulee for dessert was delicious. I would like to say thank you for lovely stay.

Everything was great, staff were polite and always willing to help. Grounds are amazing, the room was spotless and couldn’t fault it. Location was good, not far from Scarborough centre but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. It was lovely to sit outside the bar/restaurant area and just take in the scenery and the sound of the animals. Breakfast was great, additional tea/coffee provided if needed. We didn’t eat at the restaurant as we were heading to a show and you have to book a specific time slot that didn’t align with our plans, It wasn’t a problem we found somewhere in the centre to eat.

The only small issue we faced if I had to pick something was that we planned to go out to a show at Scarborough Hall and then have a drink at the bar before heading to bed. The bar had closed earlier than advertised due to staff shortages which I understand, but communication would have been nice given the amount you pay to stay there and you cannot take your own drinks. A note on the door would have been fine, reception notifying us when we ordered a taxi to go out even better. We only found out at breakfast the next morning when we asked. All in all though a good stay and would return.

"Disappointing"

4.0

Two night stay here. Welcome not very welcoming. Room odd, although recently painted. Bed was incredibly firm and pillow unsupportive. Why is it so difficult to provide a comfy bed??!!! Food bland and options very safe, but big helpings if you like that. Fine if you don’t like too much flavour. Wine not very chilled. Restaurant (not Reception) staff warm and friendly. Breakfast efficient and hot food arrived very quickly. Juices from concentrate and not fresh. Anchor butter in packets, whereas at dinner it was on a plate. Again, a bit odd. £250+ per night for DBB was overpriced. Won’t return.
