Danny's Rural Suite

The location was romantic. We were walking from Santana via Pico Ruivo to this village and we found that romantic, there were clouds between the mountains, great view from the terrace. About seven minute walk there was a little family restaurant Pintos Clock, great beer and food. And the bus was available. Great communication with owner.

Jose was incredible and replied to my WhatsApps within minutes every time. Really accommodating and lovely host. The place is in an amazing area too for all the quality hiking around the valley.

The only thing about the place is it feels a little eerie being above an unused couple of floors. A couple of the features are broken/a little tired in the place too, but this didn't retract from our stay!

The place is incredibly beautiful, surrounded by mountains, nature. The room was huge, there were all the things that you could need. The bathroom was beautiful and clean. The host was very friendly, kind and helpful. However, the view from the balcony was the best thing of all. I am so glad that I stayed here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I've been to Madeira many times, but I don't think I've ever been as happy with the accommodation as I was this time. The house is behind the Curral das Freiras (counting from Funchal), not many tourists come there. I came to do a bit of hiking in the mountains because of many marked trails in the area, and to rest after the hike. Peace and quiet are the things I'm looking for - and I've found them there. A great place in every way. The area is very peaceful and quiet. There is little car traffic, mainly direct public transport buses to Funchal (the access road is of good quality). Stable and fast internet access. I had the entire first floor of the house at my disposal - a very large living room with a wide sofa and two beds, a well equipped kitchen corner, and a bathroom. Also a long balcony terrace with table and chairs, facing south, very sunny. The bed was very comfortable. Very clean everywhere. Good value for money. The owners are very nice and helpful with problems. You can count on help in difficult situations (unfortunately, such a difficult situation happened to me, for which I apologize and thank them for help). There is a good restaurant 7 minutes up the hill (in Faja Escura).
