Quiet and peaceful location. Lovely house and great host. Jimmy , friendly and lots of good chats. Excellent breakfast.

Location was good for visiting the area but getting in and out of the property was scary because of location on the A1. Good quality towels. The wildlife within the property grounds was a nice surprise.

The property exterior was untidy and uncared for. The property interior was bare and unwelcoming. Our room was borderline acceptable after I'd asked for the cobwebs to be removed from the windows, but it smelt damp! There was no room service. Got clean towels only by asking.

The view is lovely. The bedlinen and towels were good quality and the bed comfortable.

Wifi not available due to location. No fruit offer at breakfast. Mugs for breakfast drink brought to the table. Would much prefer cup and saucer plus teapot. Arrival tray with two marshmallow type biscuits no plates. Not replenished daily. No windows opened in the bedroom three in total. I found it all pretty basic. Bathroom very steamed up after showering.

Jimmy was a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome, as a former paratrooper he has certainly lived a fascinating life and very knowledgeable about the local area. I very much enjoyed the conversations with him over his delicious breakfast with home grown eggs and quality sausage. There is also a selection of cereals with orange juice, marmalade and jams to choose from. The room and bathroom we chose was very spacious with a large comfortable bed, a beautiful old property tastefully decorated with small birds nesting just above the windows constantly fluttering around. There is a small fridge outside the rooms where he kindly provided fresh milk. As recommended we visited the beautiful unspoilt Cocklawburn beach and stunning Holy Island where we took a few pics. On our departure the resident peacock gave us a beautiful farewell display to our delight! A very enjoyable visit I would highly recommend and thank Jimmy for excellent hosting and sharing his home with us.

There was wide choice of cereals and also a full English breakfast available.Toast jams and marmalade teas coffee and orange juice. Jimmy was a good host, very informative about the local area, he made us very welcome.

There wasn’t anything not to like .

Location was really good , easy to get to and a nice quiet place to stay. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the cooked breakfast was very very good.
