The Thorold

A fantastic stay from start to finish. We can’t recommend the Thorold highly enough and would love to come back. It’s a restaurant with rooms and run by the community which makes it pretty unique and special. Staff were wonderful throughout and we also chatted with some of the committee members in the bar. Very welcoming. Bedroom was large, very clean and well equipped. Bar and restaurant were great - food of a high standard, including breakfast. Very convenient just off A1. Hope they continue to do well and it’s a model other communities should look at doing.

Great location for accessing Arena UK. The shower was fantastic - especially after competing outdoors in Storm Claudia! The lovely manager even offered to wash my jodphurs for me as they were sopping wet. Room was extremely clean and despite being in a pub the room was really quiet. Would definitely book again if we qualify next year.

Great food, clean and well appointed room, the host Rachel was friendly and went out of her way to make our stay a good one.

Breakfast was cancelled two days before with no option of an alternative. We left early and drove around for miles looking for somewhere to eat. Not ideal at all and I wouldn't have booked the place without breakfast.

You can stay with your dog. A big plus. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great atmosphere in the bar/restaurant. Delicious food. Very conveniently positioned just off A1.
