The Thorold

The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and so were the locals, the room was comfortable and quite. While the location was peaceful and we had a nice walk around the village. This is how all pubs should be.

There was nothing not to like about the place

The day I stopped they were not serving food, it did not mention, when booking, that certain days they do not open the kitchen.

Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Staff were friendly, very helpful. Nice traditional pub, that have great vibe, no big TV playing sport and good level of background music that allows you to have conversations easily. Special thanks to the lady that ran the breakfast service, great welcome, and very accommodating, especially as we had early start on our last day (Sunday) which meant we wanted breakfast before 8am.

Friendly staff with a good range of offerings at the bar. Great breakfast - huge and freshly cooked. Just as we ordered, just when we asked for it to be ready. Easy access with plenty of room for the car. Prices very reasonable.

The bedroom doesn't provide any space for a suitcase, or similar. The staircase is very steep and winds so is a little awkward. The bar could be made more comfortable to sit in for an evening; the furniture is really geared for dining and there's not the kind of space fo sitting comfortably after a meal.

The location just off the A1 was perfect for a stopover on my way to Yorkshire. The dog friendly room was exceptional. Comfy bed, nicely decorated, very high quality fittings in the large en-suite shower. Tea and coffee making facilities. Everything was provided for a relaxing and comfortable stay including dog towels!
