Beautiful house in a good and quiet location. Angus is the perfect host. Everything was great, from the delicious breakfast to the conversation.

Very comfortable accommodation in an interesting Victorian property. Very attentive and entertaining host who gave excellent recommendations of places to visit and eat.

Such lovely hosts, and the warmest of welcomes. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful accommodation, spotlessly clean and delicious breakfasts. Can't recommend highly enough.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Gables, it is in a beautiful and peaceful area, easy drive to points of interest in the area. The house is so beautiful, our room was large and we had access to a lovely living room and garden too. The highlight of our stay was the wonderful Angus whose enthusiasm and passion for the area is infectious! Angus was so welcoming and great to chat with and we really benefitted from his wealth of knowledge of the area, be it where to visit, where to eat, everything... he was so helpful and really looked after us ( and he makes a great breakfast too!). Thank you Angus and Claire, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you in your beautiful house.

This B&B ticks all the boxes, the room is comfortable, the host we could have talked with for hours, large bathroom with seperate shower and bath, very good breakfast. Didn't miss a thing (well only one small thing, somewhere to hang the towels, but that will be fixed!) Lots to see in the area for those interested in history. Skip the inside of Chillingham Castle though, it is a horror for historians, looks like all in the attic from all ages and countries has been dumped in the rooms, no context and in a bad state! Norham castle ruine is lovely, Paxton house has a great tour, Bamburgh castle is magnificent, Floors Castle very elegant.

We liked everything! Angus was a superb host. The atmosphere is super nice. English breakfast very nice ! We would like to visit again 😁

The Gables is gevestigd in een mooi pand dat al eeuwen bestaat. Je kunt genieten op een ruime slaapkamer met een ruime badkamer, of in de woonkamer of heerlijk op het terras dat over de ruime tuin uit kijkt. Angus is de perfecte gastheer die zorgt voor een heerlijk op jouw wensen afgestemd ontbijt, een koude fles water op de kamer, advies over fietsroutes en restaurants en informeert over de historie van het huis en de regio.

Koelkastje op de kamer zou fijn zijn maar niet echt gemist omdat Angus ijsklontjes kwam brengen.

Lovely setting ideal location for Berwick and border villages very friendly and knowledgeable host who made you feel most welcome will deffo be back again
