The Haven

The breakfast was great with multiple options. There were cereals, eggs, toast, juice, coffee and tea. I loved the shower! Beautiful flowers and landscaping!

House rules and breakfast menu written out would have been helpful. Girvan is the closest place for a restaurant.

The bed was comfortable and the shower had great water pressure.

The owner is extremely rude. I arrived at the agreed time but I was unsure of the address so I asked a woman who was attending to her garden where The Haven was. "This is The Haven. Look at the house number. You're early. You'll have to come back in a couple of hours." It felt like being chastised by a Victorian school mistress. Instead of arguing I went to the shop and made myself something to eat on my camping stove on the beach. On (my second) arrival it was clear I accidentally booked a room for two instead of just myself. Before I could say something along the lines of "my mistake, I'm sorry and of course I don't expect to be reimbursed" I was sternly told that I'm not getting a refund. After ensuring the owner I definitely wouldn't be seeking compensation as it was my mistake I was shown the room. There was a double bed and a single. I was told to sleep in the single as it was just myself. I didn't. I paid £96 for that room and I was going to enjoy a good night's sleep. I was then treated to a lecture on how Booking.com takes too much money off her and she can't afford to heat the rooms. That's why my room was freezing that night. A perplexing statement/question was put to me in the form of "you won't be wanting breakfast tomorrow then." I actually did as I had a 10 hour hike ahead of me but I didn't want to spend another second in this person's company so I opted out. Real life Fawlty Towers.

The only good thing about this stay was the shower.

From the very moment I arrived, the owner was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Over the course of my stay she made me feel so unwelcome that on the last morning, I abruptly had to end my stay early, missing breakfast. The icing on the cake was her banging on my door at 8.30AM shouting "For goodness sake, where are you?!". Honestly, I've never experienced such belittling behaviour from a host and I will never be returning here.

Room was very small no tv in room so couldn’t lie in bed to watch tv (tv on landing) no were to put second case toilet shower external to room and very small ….breakfast was 8.30 and felt like we were rushed out of the room …. Won’t be staying again … I have had two new knees so difficult getting case up stairs and nowhere to put them inly slept there …. At Ramada Chorley south last night such a difference lovely place to stay 🤣But it did make my daughter laugh as I sent her video of the room …. The premier inn in ayr is much better place to stay I think ….We only slept there in reality and had breakfast but you had to order that night before and couldn’t change it in the morning
