The Halfway House Pub and Kitchen

Great atmosphere, fantastic host, checked in with me on the phone to ensure that we would have everything that we needed for our stay. Fantastic pub, with great food and a really friendly welcome.

The staff, service and food were amazing but unfortunately let down by the standard of the accommodation, especially given they were charging near the top end of the local prices.

Unfortunately the room we were given stank of dogs and the carpet was actually soiled and dirty. So much so that I didn't want to take my shoes off at all. This may sound a bit hypocritical as we brought our two dogs and were charged extra for it which I'd assume is for the extra cleaning but this room clearly hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Added to that an extremely uncomfortable bed that we could feel the springs through so weren't able to get comfortable and the road noise through the single glazing meant we had a terrible night. Advertised at nearly £100 per night which is double some of the large chains locally we were very disappointed. We chose the pub thinking it would have character and be different but the room decor was in a very poor state and more like a prison cell. Also a tiny 23" telly over 12ft away from the bed is just too small and not up to modern standards. From a safety point of view they need to get a carpenter in to sort out both the doors as they both stuck and needed two hands and a very hard pull to open which I feel and elderly person or young child would struggle with in the event of an emergency on their own. The staff also warned us over dinner the fire alarms go off at random times and to just ignore them? Sorry but they need to change the pricing to reflect the accommodation or seriously up their game which is a shame as the pub, staff and food were all excellent.

Super comfy bed excellent shower Wide range of options for breakfast my vege breakfast was delicious and the full English also looked fabulous. Very well looked after by Kate and Chloe

Best people at the reception and the best boss man gave us a drive in the early morning!!!

Das Frühstück war gut. Auch das Nachtessen war in Ordnung.

Die Ausstattung der Schlafzimmer lässt Wünsche offen. Eine Sanierung wäre angesagt. Der Bodenteppich ist voller Flecken.
