Coombe Lodge Farm House

Quintessentially British! Jenny the host was so welcoming, we felt we had know her for years as soon as we met her. The breakfast was amazing, with local quality products with homemade bread. The proximity next to Coombe Lodge couldn't be closer for wedding guests, the 2 minute walk was an exaggeration by Jenny though, I thought more 1!! All the little touches in the house made our brief stay wonderful.

Shower pressure could use a little oomph!

+ Amazing location - right next to our friend's wedding venue! 2 mins walk and a short drive. This made the weekend so much easier. + We were offered an automated late check-in due to timing constraints. Thank you. + Perfect breakfast - good portions! My husband said it couldn't have been better. + Traditional decor and the bathroom was so homey! Loved the high quality soaps etc. + Very comfortable beds!

It is clear the host is very proud of the hard work she puts into her business (rightly so - it's a beautiful BnB.) However, I would recommend thinking a little more about customer experience: > Check in was stated as between 5-7pm - it was our own fault that we were not able to make this time and we were very grateful for the offer of the automated check in. But, I was then very confused when our host wanted to speak to us later on.. I might be wrong and there was a good reason for not being available between 8:30-9pm, but there didn't seem to be a reason she couldn't just check us in. > I really didn't like the tone of the messages left around directing us not to sit on chairs etc. A simple 'Please don't sit here.' would be more respectful. Overall, a lovely BnB, just maybe some reflection on how the customers could feel more relaxed during their stay (and less of a focus on the rules of staying) would make it a very different experience.

This was without doubt the best B&B I have had the pleasure of staying in. The rooms had a luxury hotel feel, the breakfast was A-class, and Jenny was the best host we could've hoped for. It was an absolute sanctuary after a cold, rainy day on the Mendips. Jenny provided some excellent advice on where to eat in the evening and could not have done more to make us feel welcome. It was a joy to stay in her home.

The setting for this accommodation is superb - beautiful countryside and fantastic views over the lake. The location and the reason for being there was to attend a wedding and this was effortless due to the close location to the venue. The breakfasts were fantastic with everything sourced locally and even with home made bread. Fantastic. However - the icing on the cake was the hospitality, friendliness and empathy of the host Jenny. My wife was a little poorly while we were there and we considered cutting short our stay. Only by the kindness and caring attitude of Jenny, were we able to rest up at the accommodation and therefore be able to enjoy the rest of our trip to see a step granddaughter get married. Thank you Jenny - we will be forever grateful for your kindness.
