The location is remote and down a pretty bad road. The main house was a little more run down than the website pictures led me to believe. The actual room was big, clean and very nice. There was no TV in the room.

This is not the fault of the property but, if you are like me and do not read all the details sufficiently in advance, you may go hungry. The property is very remote and there are very limited sources of food within many miles of the property. They did warn me of this but I did not act sufficiently in advance and tried to book a table for 2 at the only near by restaurant on the day and it was already fully booked. The local shop was shut and so we went to bed sharing a packet of crisps from the car. Plan ahead better than me or go hungry!

The property is quite far from any towns or shops, but that adds to the charm of this place! It is beautiful, stately, and has so much character!!

There are not many options for dining, and the few options are a 30 minute drive away. But, if you know this in advance, you can prepare. The host was very good at relaying this information.

A very strange place. Cold, a little creepy and had a weird smell throughout the house.

Breakfast was fine but we had to enquire beforehand what it consisted of as no information was offered.

We stayed here whilst on a 7 day NC500 trip. The entrance hall/reception area was scruffy, cluttered and dirty with wetsuits draped over the first floor banister. We had booked a double room but were allocated a twin room with scruffy decor and a malfunctioning toilet cistern. To be fair when we raised the issue the owner was present and we were moved to a better appointed double room but with some electric sockets not working. The bed linen and table cloths in both rooms had not been ironed and the windows in the second room were so dirty that when the sun shone on them you could hardly see out. The staff did not appear adequately trained and there was a sense of the right hand not knowing what the left was doing. The inadequacies were pointed out at the time to a member of staff who seemed nonplussed. We were encouraged to explore the grounds but they were so overgrown it became a toil of a pleasure. The owner describes the property as “quirky” but to us quirky does not equate to scruffy, cluttered, dirty and inadequate. This was not the most expensive accommodation on our trip but the worst value for money by a country mile.
