"Curious Fox is the place to stay!"

10.0

First time here, will definitely return! Made really welcome by a young lady who put us at our ease and explained everything about our room etc. Room was spot on. Well laid out. Really comfy bed. Breakfast was amazing. We both had the full English which was superb. Again, the young lady we met initially was waiting on table and made sure we had everything we needed. The owner/chef was very accomodating and made sure we were well looked after. If your visiting Skipton, stay here, you won't be disappointed!

"Wonderful overnight stay in a beautiful hotel/restaurant in the heart of Skipton. Everything you need close by."

10.0

Stayed overnight Sunday 28 September with my husband, son and his fiancée. Easy to find and enough parking at the rear of the hotel. Arrived early and parked up after speaking to the manager to check we were ok to leave our car as we had a canalboat/Sunday lunch booked at 10.45. Checked in at 3pm after enjoying a glass of Prosecco in the beer garden at the front of the hotel in the sunshine. Lovely friendly welcome, showed to our rooms, we had Room 1 which was a beautifully spacious room to the front and our son had an attic room 5, which was delightful.Lovely decor and thoughtful accessories (all things foxy). The hotel had plenty to see with quirky ornaments and pictures, a delight to the senses! We unpacked and walked the short distance to the centre where there was an abundance of bars, quaint pubs and cocktail/gin bars. Had a cocktail and a couple of drinks with food in one of the pubs (as the Curious Fox closed early on Sunday). Lots of friendly places to visit but most did close early around 8pm so the short walk back was extremely quiet. Settled into our room, had a lovely bath with a glass of wine-the complimentary bath products were lovely and really good quality. Watched some tv and drifted off to sleep in the very comfortable bed, with a gentle breeze from the open window. The nearby church clock did keep us awake a little but it was rather charming. Even though it was a Monday morning there was little road noise at all. We went downstairs to breakfast which was served between 7.30-9.30am. The dining room was beautiful, and the service was lovely. We all ordered something different from the menu which was included in the room price. I had the full English, my husband had eggs Benedict with ham hock, my son had Yorkshire pudding with sausage, bacon and beans and his fiancée had Foxy smash … all was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Served with tea and coffee. Saw the owners (who we had seen on 4 in a bed tv program, which they won, had a lovely chat and they suggested a walk through the woods to the castle. The shirt route was 5 mins away. This walk was delightful with lots to see along the way. A perfect overnight stay and we will definitely be back with friends and family. Excellent value for money and we can recommend The Curious Fox 100%

"Curious about the curious fox"

8.0

The curious fox, got us curious after watching four in a bed!! We can see why they won!! Such a pretty pub with rooms. Looks really welcoming from the outside and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere inside! Lee ( the owner) was happy to chat each morning! ( we stayed elsewhere but ate each morning and had one evening meal) it’s not the cheapest in skipton but the price is in line with the quality! We had steak for our evening meal and chef’s kiss was definitely earned! Stunning!!! Breakfast the first morning, I chose poached egg on sourdough and felt although cooked beautifully lacked any flavour, so morning two I went for the sassy scrambled egg and wow it was delicious. Lee is an experienced chef and it shows in his cooking and his hospitality. Would I visit again? Absolutely. Whilst we were there he had a family wedding on Saturday and when we rocked up before 9 on Sunday he was there, cheery and providing the goods! Credit to you and your team!! My curiosity was worth the visit

Location was excellent. The pub and restaurant were lovely and the food was amazing. The staff were very friendly.

The room could do with decorating. The walls were marked and carpet stained. But that didn’t affect our stay.

"Dreadful rip off"

2.0

Cancelled a booking by phone with owner Lee as tested pos for Covid, missing family wedding. Told booking cancelled. Still got charged 500 on my card. Phoned again and told booking policy means I have to pay despite manager telling me he agreed cancellation. Staff refused to give me name of manager so I could make follow up complaint. Fawlty Towers? You couldn't make it up.
