Very good. I found it healthy and satisfying.

Fantastic place to stay in Lamu old town. I'm really happy with this choice as I could experience Lamu in a more authentic way, while staying in a venue that offered a cozy and pleasant comfort. Arnold (the host of the place) was really helpful in giving tips and suggestions on how to make the most of my time there. He also helped plan some activities (as a solo traveler this was super helpful as some activities required a small group of people). Simple accommodations but very clean and hosted with care.

All good except…

the bedroom was too hot and the very noisy neighboors.

Hostel tucked away behind old town centre, uphill so breezy (good), great views from THREE terraces. (Stairs!!!) Bit of a hike to get there but very interesting little streets and you get to meet your neighbours on the way in and out. Room spacious, well equipped; warm but fans (and you can sleep on terrace if steaming). Private bathrooms. Really nice breakfasts, good choices, eggs/veggies/pancakes/toast/butter/jam, fruit juice, fruit, all super fresh and beautifully cooked and served to order plus tea/coffee available all day. Arnold and Fred work very hard to keep things clean and tidy, and offer tons of info on EVERYTHING you could want to know. Plus good wifi. Extremely friendly atmosphere. Excellent value for money; I strongly recommend, esp. for a single traveller, felt very comfortable and relaxing.

A helicopter pad to avoid those stairs would be nice (this traveller somewhat disabled, unfortunately). But then we'd lose one terrace, so maybe not.

Sehr informativ, bester Service, saubere Zimmer, der kenianische Highland Kaffee war super und tagsüber gratis Selbstbedienung. Danke für die persönlichen Erklärungen anhand von einem Stadtplan, kundiger Tourguide wurde prompt organisiert. Danke Herrn Arnold, er machte unseren Aufenthalt im Jumbo House sehr angenehm, einfach perfekt! Die Terrasse ist grossartig mit atemberaubenden Blick auf die Altstadt von Lamu!

Arnold and Fred are doing an excelent work! Information is explicit and i was fortunez to check in with other great ppl that i had a hreat time with!

Owner meets guests at ferry pier and likes giving valuable Info. He even gives a self printed map of the town 's interesting sights.There was a choice of breakfast. Freshly prepared juice. There was battery back up for current blackouts, although we did not have to use it.

For European travellers a water heater for shower would be more convenient.But for short stays , 1 or 2 nights it's ok.
