"We had a lovely one night stop over before heading to wedding next day. Helen accommodated late check out, and prepared"

10.0

10/10, we loved the nicely maintained property, and the peaceful surroundings. Helen of course was a great host too.

Possibly the old school separate cold and hot taps

"Surely the best B and B in Ireland."

10.0

This must surely be the best B and B in Ireland. The owner (Helen) could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was great, my room was perfect for my needs and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Nothing.

"A wonderful, friendly abd welcome stay."

8.0

The hostess went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was fabulous. It was such a privilege to stay in such a beautiful old home in the countryside.

The pillow was a bit stiff/not fluffy enough for my personal liking. The room was very hot.

"Would happily stay there again, if ever in the area"

8.0

A very nice rural spot, which is about four kilometres from the nearest village. The Eircode brings one seamlessly to the door, so there are no issues finding it - even on a dark October night

"This is a hidden gem! It is comfortable, clean, welcoming and beautifully located riverside."

10.0

The innkeeper was so warm and welcoming. Tea by the fire and a walk through the gardens by the river were memorable. The bed was so comfortable and the breakfast was filling and yummy.

"Wonderful and lovely house with considerate hosts in peaceful, idyllic location"

10.0

Really terrific staff, all very welcoming without being overbearing. We arrived a little late, and they were still very accommodating and offered us tea or coffee. The house and grounds were beautiful and the breakfast generous and delicious. Many thank all the way around.

It would be nice to have a chair in the room, which assists people with mobility issues to put on socks and shoes, and also to set something down.

"Experience hospitality culture and nature at one location."

10.0

Lacken Millhouse is an excellent place to stay. The house is a period property that has been tastefully 'modernised yet it still retains its old world charm. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all amenities. There are excellent views and there is the feeling of a country 'retreat'. Meals are wholesome and nutritious and these are served on exquisite plates. The tea is served in 'proper' tea pots and you have time to relax and enjoy your breakfast. There is a feeling that you are staying in a small hotel and not a guesthouse yet the house is still informal also. The changing seasons are also 'observed'. Presently Lacken millhouse has many 'characters' sitting on the shelves or standing in the corner. Some have red suits but you need to be very observant to see the two small people as they shovel away the snow! These 'little characters' are everywhere and this shows the 'attention to detail' that is everywhere in Lacken millhouse and gardens. You need to visit before all these characters 'disappear'. You won't be disappointed.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike at Lacken millhouse and gardens. The gardens are also an amazing feature with running water and a shaded area of trees surrounded by streams and a fast flowing river. There is also period stone buildings and industrial architecture associated with a mill, hence you are staying in a 'beautifully restored' millhouse.
