Blackcherry Munnar

Silvy and her family are so warm and welcoming and do everything to make you feel comfortable in their home, which is located in the most beautiful setting. The food was very tasty and plentiful ,Silvy is a very good cook. She kept us busy with her tours and cooking class which are all well worth doing. We will always carry very fond memories of our time in Silvy’s family home.

We had a great stay in The Homestay. The view from the terrace is amazing. It is very peaceful there. The climate is just perfect, cools down for the night. The room is simple with big comfortable bed. The hosts are very hospitable and nice. The food is homemade and tasty. Pineapple juice is a must try.

Dinner is served quite late, between 9-10pm which we are not used to.

It was a choice and that makes it rather special. The pineapple juice was superb.

We spent very nice days with Sylvy, Babu and their family. We have enjoyed the view from the house, the delicious food from Sylvy and the kindness from all the family. The activities proposed with local tours, trekking and cooking class were perfect to discover the surroundings and specialties.

The location is splendid and the host family is very helpful and loving. The hostess is a good cook and so no worries on the food part.

The short walk to the location may be a little challenging during monsoon rains. Car to be parked a little away from the location. But seems safe. My car was still standing in the morning when i came back . ;))

Silvie's energy, enthusiasm, and readiness to share her family home, her life story, and knowledge and insights into local life made our stay really exceptional. Although we spent time with the family, we also had the privacy of our own room. The balance was just right. We enjoyed our trip with Silvie into the tea plantations. My husband loved cooking with Silvie and learning the technique for paratha hands-on. We had all our food at the homestay and it was delicious, local and varied. The homestay is in a perfect location - in the middle of tea and spice plantations but still within walking distance to the bus stop. The view across the valley and at the misty mountains is amazing.

We felt right at home. Silvy and her family run their homestay with a lot of passion and the food was always excellent. We could try so many homemade specialties from Kerala. Silvy is an excellent cook - we already miss the deliciouse food! We took a cooking classe to learn how to make porotha :) The hike with Babu incl. homemade breakfast on top was also a great experience.

We had the best time at Blackcherry - we have been travelling India for three weeks and this has been our top highlight so far. I have nothing but good things to say about our time here, Silvy and Babu were so helpful and made us feel right as home - they’re a lovely family! The activities they provided were amazing and the food was incredible, the tastiest food we have had so far. I would recommend this place to all our family and friends or literally everyone. We stayed 3 night but 4 nights would have been amazing. If you’re visiting Munnar, this is 100% where you should stay. 10/10!!! :)))

The location

Our hosts were very friendly and extremely attentive. Sylvie will cater for all your needs, from organising tours to cooking delicious food. We liked spending time with the family and getting to know them. The highlight of the stay was a hiking trip with Babu. It was a challenging route to start with but worth an effort for some spectacular views. Sylvie’s breakfast on top was a wonderful touch. Mountains, jungle and tea plantations, the best of Munnar in one trip. We highly recommend it. We are grateful for the expedience. If you are after a real home stay experience, look no further.
