Blackcherry Munnar

We had a wonderful stay at BlackCherry Munnar with Sìlvy and her lovely family. The experience was so much more than just accommodation — it felt like staying with friends in a peaceful village surrounded by stunning views of the tea plantations. Silvy and her family were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. We took part in a range of activities including a fun and insightful cooking class, a local-style Mumbai tour, and a sunrise mountain trek, which was the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed getting to talk with Silvy to learn about the everyday lives of the local people. It was eye-opening and enriching in ways we didn’t expect. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a more authentic and heartfelt experience in Munnar.

The warm welcoming family. The location and view. The incredible food

Such a lovely home from home. Slyvie's cooking is fantastic! The view is beyond words. And the boys were super helpful. We loved the remoteness of the property, yet it's very a short climb up the hill to transport and shops.

There were a lot of bugs so we had to be careful opening and closing the room at night. We loved the fire flies though!

It was home from home. Sylvi made me so welcome. Her cooking is to die for. I thoroughly enjoyed the tours she accompanied me on around the local area. She is very knowledgeable. The views from the house are spectacular. I felt so relaxed there and may return.

Silvi and Babu gave us a very warm and welcoming welcome, with thoughtful touches to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Cooking classes, a hike through the plantations, and a short climb to the top of the Cross for a view of the tea fields.

This place is very beautiful and charming. The view of the tea gardens that you can see directly from the building is unparalleled and truly unique. The Family are extremely kind and helpful, always ready to assist and solve any issues. Everything was excellent, including the delicious food that kind sìlvy prepared. If you have any preferences, she will definitely accommodate them. I highly recommend trying the pineapple juice here too! If you’re visiting Munnar, make sure to stay here!

Lovely Homestay just outside of Munnar. This family is very involved in your stay, which can be good or bad, depending on what you’re looking for. The room is basic, but it is clean. The views from the property are wonderful. 200m from the bus stop or Tuk Tuk to Munnar - I recommend bus for the views! The family will help you with your luggage to and from the bus stop, which is very nice since it is a rocky walk to the house. The Homestay offers many programs to chose from and have a full menu. I personally enjoyed not having plan and choosing the offered activities - but you can find cheaper ways to explore Munnar if you prefer. My personal favorite was the sunrise trek - it is a very intimate experience since no one else seems to do the trek. And Babu is very good with enjoying the nature silently with you. Overall the family is kind and accommodating. I felt safe staying here and appreciate the kindness that was offered to me.

- There are much more affordable ways to explore Munnar - outdoor seating area directly in the sun - an umbrella for shade would be nice - host can be pushy with suggestions - she means well but can be intense depending on how you experience it. I think it would have been difficult to plan outside of her offered activities, which is a shame. - a lot of insects in the room - normal given we are near the forest but still to take into consideration - very late dinner (9pm) - hot water only from tap - very common in India but difficult when the climate is so cool in the mornings and evenings

This is a true Homestay. The family is very warm and welcoming and eager to share their life with you. The cooking class was great, as were all the meals and conversations. Location is easy for taking the bus or tuktuk to Munnar. Views of tea plantation.

The room needs a little bit of maintenance and cleaning.

We had good time with Selvi aunty family, we were extremely happy. Aunty prepared good food and we went munnar site seeing with Selvi aunty. It was cool .

Silvy and her family are so warm and welcoming and do everything to make you feel comfortable in their home, which is located in the most beautiful setting. The food was very tasty and plentiful ,Silvy is a very good cook. She kept us busy with her tours and cooking class which are all well worth doing. We will always carry very fond memories of our time in Silvy’s family home.
