Blackcherry Munnar

Our stay at the Blackcherry homestay has been really memorable because of the excellent host, mrs. silvy and her family. The food cooked by her was delicious. We appreciate the variation in the menu. She also took us out for sight seeing activity, which a great experience.

The access path leading to the homestay is a bit difficult involving climbing down through narrow hilly muddy steps from the main road. But we got help from the host family in carrying the luggage.

Our family of four recently stayed at a charming homestay in Munnar, and the hospitality we received was truly heartwarming. The host family Babu sir, Sylvia Ma'm and their two sons welcomed us with such warmth and genuine smiles that we instantly felt at home. Their kind gestures and heartfelt conversations added a personal touch to our stay. The aroma and taste of the food—especially the parotta with beef curry, pineapple juice, puttu with kadala curry, chicken gravy, chapathi with dal,chicken rice & beef rice and more—were simply irresistible and deliciously memorable. Every meal was a feast of flavors, served with care and love. It was difficult to say goodbye after such a delightful experience.

It was in a good location. We are in the middle of the nature. Those who live in city and in a busy life its a good place for relaxation.

Make a good road to home. It could be more easy to access.

Breathtaking mountain views dotted with tea fields. Delicious food, prepared by the owner herself -- the flavors are authentic, you eat as much you can. The family running Blackcherry Munnar are very warm, helpful and open people. They also offer many additional attractions -- just express your desire and you will surely find something for yourself. We took advantage of the cooking lessons and also a one-day, fully organized trip that the hostess took us on, thanks to which we had the opportunity to see several secret gems in the area. An amazing experience, we recommend this place to anyone visiting Munnar! We hope to come back there someday. :)

I can only echo what others have mentioned about Blackcherry: it is a very welcoming and beautiful place, ideal for relaxation! Sylvie, Babu, Dixon and Luckson are a very kind family, and we will remember our trip very fondly. Sylvie worked diligently and we were offered plenty of fresh pineapple juice, sweet cardamom tea and spiced coffee (which was great to try!), as well as an array of freshly prepared Keralan food. It was all delicious! We also had fun learning how to make aviyal and parathas during our cooking class with Sylvie. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. We also enjoyed a good day-walk local to the homestay and made the most of the scenery.

We spent two nights at Blackcherry Homestay with Silvia, Babu, Luckson, and Dixon. We felt right at home during our beautiful stay here, in this little paradise nestled in the middle of the tea plantations. Everyone was very flexible and helpful, doing their best to make our stay memorable by sharing great advice and recommendations. We truly enjoyed spending time with them and having meaningful conversations. We also took a cooking class with the best chef in town — Silvia! We learned how to make paratha and a local Kerala vegetable curry — Aviyal. It was absolutely delicious! All of Silvia’s food was amazing, and the pineapple juice was the best we’ve had in India since the beginning of our trip! Thank you for your warm hospitality — you made our stay unforgettable. We will definitely come back! A little gem in the middle of the tea plantations, with a warm family and hospitality in their blood!

Silvy, Babu and family were wonderful hosts, I felt very welcome and safe as a solo traveller. A short walk from the road, the property is set on the hill with a stunning view. Her sons were incredibly helpful helping with luggage. The room had all that you needed & Silvy offered refreshments & afternoon/ evening meals to order. Breakfast was traditional and home cooked - tasty! She is a great cook, try the pineapple juice! They also offer day trips such as trips to the tea plantations and hikes, this makes for a wonderful stay where you can arrive, relax and explore Munnar.

Expected a hot shower - but hot water was available for a bucket shower.
