A genuine Georgian country house, included in a recent book on the revival of Irish country houses by owners committed to authentic restoration. James is a delightful host who maintains a warm and welcoming ambience. He prepares a delicious breakfast, cooked to your liking and using carefully sourced produce. The setting is peaceful, and makes an ideal base for walks in the Slieve Bloom mountains.

Relaxed vibe. The house is a home. Staying at Summergrove felt like what I imagine a country weekend was like 100+ years ago except with modern comforts.

House beautifully restored yet with modern facilities. Well placed for exploring the local area and its many attractions. Comfortable bed, superior breakfast. Many personal touches such as fresh flowers in the room. Host friendly and welcoming.

James is a wonderful host, warm and welcoming. His home really is spectacular and so beautifully and tastefully decorated. The room was spectacular, such a comfortable bed with beautiful bedding. The breakfast was superb with a lovely surprise of freshly baked scones from the AGA. I'd really recommend a stay here.

He was super private , super quiet. The house itself was amazing and had a cosy feel about it.

This is the most perfect small Georgian house in Ireland, impeccably restored and presented by James Speedy, who has a sharp eye for period detail. His hospitality and cooking are equally as good. Why stay at expensive Ballyfin when you can stay at this gem of a house for a fraction of the price?
