"Pleasant enough but overpriced."

7.0

Breakfast was superb. Staff were pleasant.

Dinner was average, little choice for a vegetarian. Pizza was undercooked and soggy. Room above bar was noisy and therefore too expensive in my opinion.

"Great rooms and excellent food."

The room was very comfortable. The restuarant was exceptional for a pub. I've never stayed anywhere that had such friendly and helpful staff. All in all a great place, would visit more often if I was a local.

"Great overnight stop."

9.0

Staff were excellent, friendly, welcoming and efficient. The evening meal was delicious and good breakfast too. Would definitely stay there again.

Only down side was noise from the bar/restaurant could be heard in the bedroom, fortunately this stopped by 10.30 so wasn't that much of an issue.

"Really sorry to complain but what a waste of money"

4.0

I can’t fault the staff at the six bells, they were incredibly friendly.

I decided to spend money on the biggest and most expensive room (the Haystack). To say it wasn’t worth the money is an understatement. The room was above the kitchen so during food service, it smelt of grease. The toilet seat was broken and the shower didn’t drain quickly so I was stood in an inch of water (having said this, I’m sure it could be that no one else had bothered to report the issues and just left it). I had booked this place as it’s on the Michelin food guide for exceptional food. The food was nice but could’ve gone to a local restaurant at home and paid a taxi rather than drive 2.5 hours and spend over £400 on one night here (room and food). There is only one small corner area to sit to enjoy drinks without sitting at a formal table. We were lucky enough to at least be able to sit there before and after eating. The breakfast was pretty terrible. My coffee nearly blew my head off and the bacon was inedible as it had most likely been sat under a heat lamp for too long.
