The Shoes

Amazing bar downstairs with exceptionally friendly and welcoming people. The breakfast for £5 extra during the booking was one of the best I've ever had in a Bed and Breakfast. Absolutely lovely stay, absolutely made my week!

This was our second time staying at The Shoes. It's a lovely place, and the rooms are spacious and well appointed.

We didn't realize we had to book breakfast in advance, which was a shame as it meant we couldn't get a proper breakfast before we had to leave for the day. A shame because we remember the breakfast being great on our first trip!

The room was spacious, the breakfast was superb, and room had good heating.

Good location and great value. An easy bus ride from central Durham with some nearby shops and restaurants. Simple, unfussy, comfy room with cosy bed. Great breakfast, friendly hosts. Everything you need for a quick overnight stay without breaking the bank!

A little bit of dust on the bedside table and some slight mould stains in the bathroom walls/ceiling that could wipe off easily. TV a bit small. Otherwise very clean and well kept.

Good welcome, lovely big room and bathroom. Nice and warm. Tasty breakfast, good range if fruit and cereal. Staff helpful re buses and walking routes.

The beds were very soft and a bit low. Light was brighter in the bathroom than in the bedroom; hard to read.

It had all I needed. The hosts were very friendly and served my a wonderful breakfast each morning.
