Quinta do Fôjo

The place is beautiful. An old simple authentic finca in an incredible setting. The kind hosts produces great wine that you can buy there. The breakfast is lovely. The views from every one of the sweet old windows and the pool are incredible. It’s is very peaceful and a special experience.

Elisabete is a true hostess. The 2 room B&B is situated in her parental home, which is at least a Century old. Authenticity has been preserved. The quinta comprises of 7 hectares of vineyards, where wine is still pressed and distilled the old fashioned way. We participated in one of Elisabete’s wine tasting sessions, and it was conducted in a very stylish manner. Very pleasant, informative and, again, authentic. The views are spectacular from everywhere, and being in the swimming pool overlooking the surrounding vineyards and sceneries, was an unforgettable experience.

It was hot in the Douro valley, and the room does not have airconditioning. It was a little uncomfortable sleeping. Elisabete has informed us that as per later this month she will have airconditioning units installed, which would eliminate this one and only constructive point of criticism.

We liked everything! Quinta do Fojo is totally unique. The old, traditional house is charming and comfortable, nestled in the Douro amongst the vines. The breakfast was delicious, served with the greatest care and attention to detail whilst the hospitality was the best we have experienced during any of our road trips through Portugal and Spain. Thank you so much Elizabete and Manuel for a very special stay.

Quinta do Fojo is a real gem in the Douro Valley! Elisabete is an outstanding host! She greeted us warmly and treated us like family throughout our visit. She had the best recommendations for our dining in Regua. We were honored to share her historic family home. It was spectacular! The home itself is warm, charming, and inviting. We loved visiting with the other guests at our intimate breakfast, with freshly squeezed oj, homemade jams, breads, and other delicious treats. The property is stunning! We enjoyed the relaxing pool that overlooks the vineyards and mountains. If you can catch one of her wine tastings, you won't be disappointed! Highly recommend this quinta and hope to visit again!

Quinta do Fojo is a special place, and staying there was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Elisabete was lovely and warm, and so lucky to have grown up in a place like this. The old farmhouse and the grounds are beautiful and full of character. The bathroom being down the hall was not an issue at all - very private. The bed was comfortable, and it was so pleasurable to relax at the end of the day with the curtains fluttering in the gentle breeze, with the view across the valley. Breakfast was fabulous; what could be better than drinking orange juice freshly made that morning with oranges from the property? We did the wine tasting with Elisabete, and hearing her stories of growing up at Quinta do Fojo brought the history to life. Thank you, Elisabete!!

Quinta Do Fojo is such a beautiful place in a stunning location. Elisabete was so welcoming, friendly & helpful, really making me feel at home. The rooms are very comfortable and breakfast was delicious, mostly home made by Elisabete from local fresh ingredients. It is so quiet and peaceful and a really special place. Elisabete makes her own wine and does tours and tastings but sadly I didn’t have time to go one one. I will definitely be returning to stay again and cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you are looking for a peaceful, authentic stay, with stunning views & a friendly atmosphere then this is the place for you.

I wish I had stayed for longer.

The location in the Douro Valley very close to Regua was absolutely breathtaking. You will need a car if you stay there. Elisabet the host is incredibly welcoming and works hard to make everything comfortable. This is perfect for those looking for something different. The family house only has two rooms and the bathrooms, albeit your own, are outside the room. It is also not for people with mobility issues as there are steep steps. But if you want a centuries old house on a small working vineyard this is it. The breakfast was a gorgeous spread and there is a lovely pool on site. We even participated in the wine tasting on site. It was relaxing every minute.

I loved the bed. It has a new bed and you can tell it. The bathroom was private and large. I loved the classic Portuguese breakfast! The owner was helpful and kind.

Our stay at Quinta do Fôjo was absolutely wonderful! Elisabete and her mother, Alicia, made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Their warmth and hospitality truly set the tone for our entire trip to Portugal. The 19th-century house is full of charm and character, impeccably clean, and radiates a beautiful atmosphere. And the breakfast – simply divine! It featured local products from small producers, making every bite fresh and delicious. We will be missing this special place and the lovely hosts, and we hope to return one day!
