Beautiful old farm house with a lovely couple

Unfortunately the location was not great a- a very narrow lane for 2 or 3 miles to reach it

"Charming, slightly quirky B and B in lovely location."

9.0

The location of this B and B was peaceful, a bit off the beaten track and beautiful. The host , Sandra was very welcoming , friendly and professional. The house is a mixture of 16/ 17th centuries with later additions and breakfast is served elegantly in the delightful dining room. We had the top , attic floor to ourselves as self contained unit. It is undoubtedly quirky with fixtures and fittings that may not suit those who are used to blander establishments but we loved its charms as well as its very large bedroom , comfy bed and , despite appearances, very good shower. A pub nearby serves reasonable pub evening meals. It is an establishment you will remember which cannot be said for many others. It was close enough to Hay for the festival which we attended and we will definitely return.

Television signal poor but didn’t bother us. There are steep , shallow stairs to the rooms which you need to be able to navigate .

"Disorganised & disappointing stay that could have been so much better"

6.0

Convenient to a festival we were attending. A quaint old farmhouse with a lovely dining room. Comfortable bed

Booked 2 deluxe rooms with private bathroom several months ago. Friends had a deluxe room and we had a completely different room to what we had booked (according to photos) with a shared bathroom. Both baths were unusable. Was not informed about Shared bathroom until found another guest using it. Room was not a deluxe. Too cluttered with personal trinkets and one blind needed replacing. WiFi did not work with different network to one listed. Friends room no form of heating and cold. Also had to wait to check in as we needed to leave for a show. Apologies given by owner but no offer of compensation which I think was justified. Breakfast fine

This is a very old but beautifully maintained and comfortable farmhouse, full of beautiful furniture, china, silver etc. We loved the ambience as it reflected an earlier more genteel era. It is set in a peaceful rural setting where the rest of the world is a million miles away. Our hostess was charming, informative and looked after us very well.

We loved it all.

"Lovely house in a peaceful setting"

A beautiful old house, quiet rural location within walking distance of a pub as they used to be, friendly and hospitable hosts who provided a very good breakfast.

A complete treat to stay in such a historic house on the England - Wales border that oozes character and history. A really comfortable night's sleep followed by a great breakfast in the morning.

Some people might find this a remote location but if you enjoy complete tranquility and the sound of Barn Owls at night under star filled skies, then you will have a lovely time here. If the taps in the Victorian bathtub could be fixed then it would transform the private bathroom into something exceptional.
