Great character, amazing breakfast

Unpretentiously vintage, not tacky or contrived, just a wonderful little time capsule in a traditional old Dutch building and staffed by the loveliest people. Unfortunately it didn't work out for us on this occasion as there was an issue with Booking.com's automated 'extra bed' request system meaning the room was just too small for our family group. No one's fault. Modern technology to blame, and the host went out her way to try and fix this but sadly it was not to be. Ultimately we stayed elsewhere. No big deal in the end and I've great faith the owner will endeavour to find a space for us next time we're in the Netherlands so I'm not out of pocket. Soepp was #1 on our list for Alkmaar and we were so disappointed not to have spent the night chilling in the vibe downstairs! I've no doubt we'll be back soon! On a more practical note, Soepp is situated in the heart of the old town on a skinny street filled with charming little boutique shops. It's perfectly placed if you're visiting for the cheese market. Parking no issue as Soepp is just a 4 minute wander from Karperton multistorey. Again, we're so looking forward to our return 😊

The atmosphere is fantastic! The staff are very friendly and all have bubbly personalities. The whole set-up was incredibly cute! Breakfast was exceptional!

Quirky, fascinating B&B in a beautiful 16th century building, lots of memorabilia, fabulous big breakfast, lovely friendly staff and very central - loved Soepp 🧡

For me it wasn’t a problem but the stairs up to the blue room are very steep and the floor creaky (which you would have to expect in such a historical building!), don’t let that put you off though, the experience of staying there more than compensated for any small inconveniences.

The charming apartment is situated in the heart of Alkmaar and within literally metres of all the attractions. The apartment was spotless and had all the usual amenities, including a washing machine. The owner also went out of her way to prepare lunch for me, due to the fact that I couldn't make breakfast due to an early appointment in nearby Bergen.

All!! Amazing location, lovely stay, feeling super welcome by owner & staff. And the food at Soepp is great as well. I totally recommend it.

Lovely breakfast (also with gluten free options :-) ) and decoration! Very friendly stuff! Right in the middle of the city center so really convenient for walking around!

The only thing I could mention is the noise during the night as the rooms are in the city center and can be a bit challenging if you are a "light" sleeper :-)

This place is great, and the staff are all wonderful people!
