Very small room, main window faced onto driveway

We stayed at Nikau Lodge January 3rd, prior to whale watching very early the next day. We had a very comfortable corner room, with great views. We had everything in the room we needed which was great. Sadly the weather wasn't what it could have been, so we chose to get out and explore. The property is set on a hill and it's a easy walk into Kaikōura where we found a fantastic pub (The Whalers) for some comfort food! The next day as you can see the weather was spectacular, and the early start was more than compensated for by the 2 whales we saw! Amazing.

Only a very minor point, as we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't want anything to detract from that, but we left before breakfast was to be served so we were given takeaway granola and yoghurt which was great. As we had paid for a full breakfast it would have been nice to have a little more maybe fruit juice, water, a muffin?

This was a terrific location with a marvelous view of the mountains. Wonderful breakfast and very friendly hosts. Great room.
