"Stay here! You will never want to leave!"

We LOVED everything about Matamata Lodge! Mark and Glenn’s attention to detail in every part of our stay was phenomenal. The lodging was perfectly appointed, the food was excellent and delicious, the environment was spectacular!

We didn’t love the sink but it’s a very small thing.

This was a little gem - we booked it as it was close to Hobbiton without really paying too much attention to the facilities etc. upon arrival we were greeted by Glenn a great host who got us settled in and recommended things to do. Breakfast was superb home cooked and in the fridge just needed a quick blast in the microwave - delicious pancakes and fruit. Yogurt etc and the following fritters with bacon

We were greeted on arrival and given a brief overview of the property and facilities. The room was clean and comfortable with good cooling and bathroom facilities. Mark gave good suggestions for dining and places to visit for our next destination. Home cooked food was excellent.

"A lovely gem of a property in a beautiful and peaceful setting"

The hosts, Glenn and Mark, were amazing! They made us a lovely dinner and homemade breakfast which was phenomenal. The studio itself is decorated so nicely and cleverly, e.g. with USB sockets near the bed which is a rarity in places we stayed in New Zealand. They have a picnic table on their fields where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine with a truly beautiful and peaceful setting.

Nothing! I just wish we had more time to stay there!

Glenn and Mark we’re so friendly and helpful with our travels in Matamata. Their charming farm and cottage was a lovely set up and preparation for our trip to Hobbiton. The breakfast was home made, and delicious! The room was so comfortable, they really thought of all the finishes from the port to the heated towel rack. Truly couldn’t fault it!
