Matamata Lodge

We could not fault this place. This was a real little gem and it felt like home away from home. Glenn and Mark were amazing hosts, they go above & beyond. We were provided a great healthy breakfast with some homemade muffins and pancakes. They give you the opportunity to get to know them. We also had the pleasure to meet the farm animals and feed them. The room we had, had everything we needed including being able to cater for ourselves. We had our own unit which was very private and super clean. Shower had great pressure & good hot water. The bed was super comfortable. The small touches of homemade biscuits and sherry on arrival was wonderful. Having a carpark outside the room was great. We will be back for a longer stay next time. I had a blast, I got some fantastic recommendations about things to do and places to see thanks to Glen. I loved waking up to the peace and serenity of the property, lots of happy cows, sheep and goat.

Fantastic location. Wonderful hosts. Great breakfast. And a very very friendly goat. A lovely getaway.

Excellent detail to the little things when added up make this stay a delightful and top drawer experience. Glenn and Mark are fabulous hosts who are easy to connect with and provided us with several ideas for places to see. I highly recommend a stay there to experience first hand the amenities that await you. The drive into Matamata takes five minutes with only two turns, one of which is out the driveway, for you drivers used to right hand driving.

Clean and modern with every amenity. Glenn was helpful and accommodating even preparing a meat and cheese plate for us even though we arrived late in the evening.

Loved this studio room, wished we could have stayed longer. The hosts are great and gave us great ideas for local walks and sites to see. The perfect place to stay if going to Hobbiton.

Everything was perfect!

The lodge was well presented, warm, and inviting. The host where very helpful and informative regarding the local area. Surrounding gardens and farm animals where a great experience. Food was delicious (especially the cookies). We wish we had more time there to explore further.
