Such a special place! The garden was more like a park and I was welcomed like an old friend! The breakfast was AMAZING and the place sooo peaceful it was a proper short retreat! Would just have needed a few extra days!

"A welcome and room like no other. Fabulous."

10.0

I chose to stay at Whitmore initially as due to it being Uni move in weekend (taking my son to Lancaster was the purpose of the trip) there was very limited availability. I’m so pleased that I chose Whitmore and haven’t stayed somewhere as welcoming in a very long time. I was welcomed by Rita who took me up to my twin bedded room then brought me up fresh milk for my tea (I was given a choice of plant based milk or cow’s) and a plate, cutlery and a napkin so I could eat my chicken salad in my room. Rita showed me the fridge, bathroom and how to operate the TV. The room itself was lovely, many beautiful things to look at and I was spoilt for choice in terms of books to read. I spent the rest of the evening relaxing on the very comfortable sofa watching TV, before having a good nights sleep. The bathroom is lovely and beautifully clean (as is the whole property) and again decorated in an elegant style but with some quirky touches. Breakfast at Whitmore was dictated by my pace and Rita is a very generous host. I had orange juice followed by fresh melon, granola and skyr. Poached egg on toast, some toast with jam and coffee. The breakfast room follows the style of the house with bold colours, elegant furnishings and a true sense of character. After breakfast, I had a walk around the extensive grounds with Rita, and came away with some very lovely fresh produce from the orchard and garden. Thank you for a wonderful and very memorable stay. I hope to return in the spring.

There was nothing that I didn’t like.

"Excellent little gem"

10.0

A lovely b&b in a stunning, quiet location. Rita went out of her way to accommodate our every need. The room was an excellent size with lots of personal touches. Tea/coffee/water/kettle and even a fridge in the room. The whole b&b is full of character and charm. Breakfast was a real treat, a beautiful selection of homegrown fruits, multiple coffees/teas, yoghurt, and cereals to choose from and then Rita offered a selection of hot vegetarian food, freshly cooked and served on a hot plate which was delicious. To finish off the stay, Rita gave me a huge bag of homegrown plums and apples. I really enjoyed chatting to Rita, too. Will definitely visit again.

Everything was perfect

"A truly delightful place to stay"

10.0

One of the most tranquil & peaceful places I've stayed. The room was huge and delightful, with a lovely lived in feel, lots of interesting books, a comfy sitting area and all the facilities needed. Lots of windows and the view over the garden was gorgeous. Wonderful extensive grounds to walk or sit in - a private nature reserve! Breakfast was excellent and served in an elegant & homely room with a view out to the garden. Rita was very welcoming and a lovely host.

"Another comfortable night's stay."

This was my second stay in two weeks and my review is identical to the first one. This time I managed to have breakfast in the lovely garden at the suggestion of Rita, the host. Would definitely recommend the Whitmore.

"A great place to stay on The Way of the Roses"

10.0

Friendly hosts, in a lovely house with extensive gardens, in a quiet location. Rita prepared a lovely and generous vegetarian breakfast. My bike was safely stored overnight in the utility room. Whitmore is right on the Way of the Roses cycle route.
