Cavell House Bed and Breakfast

I liked how it was easy access to the building. I felt safe as solo traveller. The bed was comfy. The location is very good. The lady at the reception was friendly.

The hotel is in need of some updating.

Unfortunately not the stay we were hoping for I’ve actually never left a negative review, and it saddens me to have to write this one. We booked a deluxe double room for one night and a family room, and while the location was genuinely brilliant and central, the rest of the experience was deeply unsettling. Our deluxe room was on the ground floor right next to the front door, and unfortunately, during the night we were kept awake by a very distressing incident involving someone shouting, demanding money, throwing objects, and making repeated death threats. This went on for hours until the early hours of the morning. We were genuinely frightened and concerned for our safety. And no one came to ease our concerns. The police were eventually called by the owners but by that point, it had significantly impacted our stay and we couldn’t sleep due to our safety concerns. We went to speak to the owner who said it was the son of someone who lived there. Which is deeply concerning. In the morning we weren’t given any compensation and we also found Food was also thrown onto the cars parked outside, and broken items were left around the entrance. The B&B itself is quite dated, and the layout of the deluxe bedroom bathroom (essentially within the bedroom not a bathroom made it feel quite uncomfortable when using and sharing the space. Upon arrival, we also witnessed a disagreement between staff members during check-in, which started off our journey of our stay. The family room was fine, top floor. Expensive but fine, dated and pigeons were loud. We paid £144 for the night per room and sadly feel this did not reflect the experience we had. I truly don’t enjoy leaving reviews like this, but felt it was important to share.

Very dated and not very clean

The owners David and Abby were very helpful. The room was spacious and quiet with a comfortable bed and good sized seating area with sofa. Breakfast was served in the room with plenty of choice.

The car park was a bit of a tight squeeze.

Went fine. No breakfast. But that's ok.

Not much.

Had continental breakfast in our room, which was spacious with pleasant view and en-suite facilities
