Lawrence Villa

A visit to this facility is pure pleasure and I sincerely recommend it to everyone. The service was exemplary - Mr. Lawrence was very nice and helpful and the lady who served us breakfast was lovely. Breakfasts from local cuisine are very tasty, fresh and on time. The room is clean and well-kept, and the owner makes sure that nothing is missing.

The beds were comfortable and the gardens are nice enough. There was a little kitchenette area, but we didn’t use it so can’t comment on whether everything worked or if it was well stocked.

The room needed to be swept again after we checked in and the breakfast was very basic. Given the price, it didn’t feel like it was good value for what we got.

The accommodation is great, the rooms are well equipped and spotlessly clean. Lovely linen, kitchenette and bathroom facilities are excellent. Easy access to lots of sights around Weligama. Thank you so much for hosting us.

I can recommend this place. The room was nice and clean. It had everything we needed, the internet worked well. The location is quiet with nature sounds which is great, and every morning we were visited by an orange cat :). The place is a short walk away from the city, beach and surf schools and is right next to my favourite restaurant in the city. Everyday we got a different traditional Sri Lankan breakfast which was great. Service is really nice and welcoming. It's nice to talk to them to learn a few things. The owner took us to his local yoga class which we loved. We also used laundry service which was at a standard price and fast.

Sometimes the water is not hot if it's not sunny but we didn't mind since it was so warm outside and it's more eco friendly :)

I had such high expectations for this property reading the reviews. The room and the balcony were big, which we loved.

On the other hand, the host was terrible. First, I spoke to the owner weeks in advance asking him where we could rent a scooter from, and he said he would give us one to rent. On the day of our arrival I asked again if I could have the scooter the next morning and he confirmed. But the next day he said he doesn’t have the scooter and we should rent one ourselves. He didn’t even offer to help. Then, we gave them our clothes to be washed ($3 per wash) and they were returned wet and dirty. Breakfast was extremely basic. They have house rules to take out your own trash. No one cleans your room or replaces your towels.

The property features a very cozy garden. The room is spacious, and there are plenty of surf schools nearby, as well as a fantastic seafood restaurant. The room also includes a small kitchen and some utensils.

The location is at the entrance to the village. It’s a 15-20 minute walk to the busier areas of the village.
