The Bramley House Hotel

Conveniently located hotel which suited our needs. Food & bar available on site. Friendly, helpful staff. Spacious bedroom.

Number of stairs up to our room, very cramped shower room, hard, firm bed and flat pillows. Some noise from private function on one evening, however this did finish around midnight.

The staff and how clean it was .

So 1st impressions count! As you walk in the main door you see that the paint is peeling off the door. The carpets in all the public areas and our room, are filthy and badly stained. The paintwork is peeling off the woodwork and chipped everywhere. There are marks and stains on the paintwork everywhere. There was no wifi in our room at all and none in the hotel at all in the morning. There is a stench of rancid fat & smoke in the bar and breakfast room, it looks as if the kitchen is venting smoke into the hotel. We were planning to eat there in the evening, but after being told that the kitchen closed at 8pm and we wanted to eat at 7:45pm, luckily we decided to eat else where. The room is very tatty, with paint peeling off the window frames and doors, in fact the window won't close. There were no glasses to drink out of in the room, just a couple of mugs. Breakfast was a disaster. My wife asked for a banana - 15 mins later the young chap came back to say they didn't have any, he had forgotten to take my breakfast order, my wife then asked for a sausage sandwich on brown bread and & had a cooked breakfast. After another 15 minutes they are, the sausage sandwich on white bread and not brown, my fried egg was full of shell, the sausage must have been cooked an hour ago and the black pudding was tepid. The supposed coffee was simply tasteless hot brown. All in all one of the worst places we've ever stayed and thoroughly unpleasant.

Good location, very friendly staff, well maintained and clean

The cooked breakfast was good alongside cereals but we felt the addition of yoghurt would have given those who stayed more than one night an addition choice

Lovely hotel in a quiet setting -we were delayed on our arrival due to weather and motorway problems but staff were so accommodating and even offered to come to the hotel to assist us if we had difficulties accessing our rooms-just needed to phone them

The sink in the bathroom in Rm 6 didn’t drain

Could not find any staff when we checked in,could not find any staff at breakfast. The bed was a 4’6” double that you could feel the springs in and it had definitely seen better days
