Waikonini Homestead

We had dinner the previous night, but breakfast was included in the tariff. Both included fresh and homemade produce, preserves, new agria potatoes with mint. Mary knows her onions! There is a welcoming menagerie to greet guests, a gaggle of geese, hens, Annie and Prudence her faithful canines. The old historic house architectural designed, has had its history carefully documented by Mary and well worth a read. For those interested in early colonial NZ history will enjoy a visit to this welcoming peaceful home.

The visit met our expectations, there was ample parking, we were free to roam around the gardens and relax. Mary has added a light and bright conservatory for dining, there was nothing not to like.

it doesn’t fit my style

it locates in a very remote area on unpaved route and hard to find out. the toilet and bathroom are shared with other guests.

Waikonini Homestead is een prachtig authentiek landhuis in een prachtige en rustige omgeving. We hadden een goed bed, schoon (gezamenlijk) sanitair en een prima ontbijt. De communicatie met onze gastvrouw Mary was uitstekend. In het maken van afspraken was ze erg flexibel. Het gaf ons de ruimte om onze dag zo goed mogelijk te benutten. Kortom: we hadden hier een heerlijk verblijf. Hartelijk dank Mary!

In eerste instantie hadden we de accomodatie in het tuinhuisje geboekt. Bij aankomst vonden we dit wel heel erg basic. Onze fout: we hadden de advertentie beter moeten lezen. Gelukkig konden we onder bijbetaling alsnog een kamer in het landhuis boeken.

The grounds are beautiful, such an amazing house & garden - it’s like something out of a Jane Austen novel! Mary (& of course, her two adorable dogs) were lovely. She made us a great breakfast & even helped us out with some potential work opportunities for our working holiday. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The beautiful old House is very respectful renovated. The precious wooden flors, stairs and ceilings are still visible . Nevertheless, the bedrooms, the bathrooms and the kitchen are modernised. The house is situated in a gorgeous garden. Many different trees, bushes and flowers invite to walk. Mary is a food lover and loves to cook for one or many persons.

Gorgeous house in a beautiful location. Mary is a lovely host. Very comfortable stay. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, beautiful garden, friendly pets and home style vibes. Also very affordable.
