The views were spectacular. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty.

The host Martin was quite helpful.

The view was amazing. Martin, one of the owners was lovely, very knowledgeable about the area, places to go and the history of the house. Breakfast was lovely. Bathroom was nice, just needed a bin. Shower was great, but just needed somewhere to hang your toiletries. Beds were comfy although the bedding was awful.

Our room was shocking. I booked a large twin for me and my mum as a little treat for her to get her out and about before an operation. We were really disappointed when we got to our room. It was a dull and tiny room in the attic, it smelt musty and was nothing like any of the photos on Booking.com or Plas Esgir's private website. I was quite upset as this ruined our weekend a little as none of us wanted to go back to our room with a view of a chimney. The electrics must be illegal. it said on the description of the room on Booking.com that it was a LARGE twin, with seating area and wardrobe. It was tiny, there was 1 bucket seat, so not really a seating area and there was no wardrobe. I appreciate, it is a listed building and takes a lot of time and money to refurbish, but that room should not be rented out at all as it is. Maybe keep it as a storage room. The lighting in there was really bad, so we had no where to do our make up. We had to ask for a hairdryer and hand wash. (Which Martin provided straight away). We only had one hand/face towel between us. The veranda, which should have been the main focal point of the property, as it had the most amazing view, was in a really bad state, with what looked like rubbish dumped around it. There were a couple of tables and a few chairs, but they needed a clean and were just kind of thrown there, with a dirty ashtray on the table. Some of these things don't take much to make a little better, which i found really frustrating. Some of the other rooms look lovely, which is what i thought we had. A room shouldn't be rented out without photos. I felt quite deceived.

Very warm welcome, beautifully appointed, stunning scenery, high quality breakfast. We were even given an Atlas to help us spot all the best views on our way to the coast. Perfect! Reccommend!

This place is special. Really interesting building with stunning views which we enjoyed over dinner and later from the comfortable lounge. We had planned to eat en route but delays meant we hadn’t eaten. With no notice, Martin said “give me 25 mins” and we were expecting something simple but were offered a full menu! We chose the home made beef and stilton pie which was excellent. The room was good with a nice hot shower and our dog was allowed (after checking with other guests) at dinner then breakfast. Plenty of choice at breakfast inc veggie. Thank you Martin and Robin. You deserve all your excellent reviews!
