Ruins Villa

Une étape unique chez un hôte remarquable. Upali a su rendre notre séjour parfait avec une attention particulière, des plats délicieux et surtout une passion débordante pour la nature. Il nous a partagé ses connaissances de la faune et la flore locale, avec pour point culminant une balade nocturne à la recherche d’animaux sauvages (toucans, chauve-souris, singes, daims… mais peuvent être trouver des loutres et des porc épiques !) L’emplacement est à deux pas d’une entrée de la cité antique si vous souhaitez visiter ce trésor culturel. Sans doute l’un des meilleurs séjours que nous avons eu au Sri Lanka!!

J'ai passé un séjour extra. Upali et sa famille sont très accueillants et souriants, j'ai reçu un accueil chaleureux. Les repas et petits déjeuners sont top je recommande. La chambre est impeccable. L'endroit est juste magique si vous aimez observer les oiseaux. Upali est passionné, il m'a fait découvrir les petits trèsors de la nature autour de sa maison et m'a conseillé de très bons endroits à visiter. Encore merci pour tout.

Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit gewesen. Er hat uns gute Tipps gegeben und auch eine Nachtwanderung mit uns gemacht. Man hat sich sehr wohl bei ihm und seiner Familie gefühlt. Abendbrot und Frühstück waren sehr lecker gewesen. Auch der Garten ist wunderschön. Hier ist man im wirklichen Sri Lanka angekommen. Es ist eine authentische Unterkunft und sehr sauber.

Das Zimmer und Bad wären groß genug für ein paar Ablagen. Im Bad gab es leider gar keine für die Waschtasche und im Schlafraum befanden sich nur eine Bank und ein Spiegel, sowie eine Art stummer Diener vor dem Bad. Es gab auch keine Nachttische. Somit ist es sehr schwierig sich ein bisschen einzurichten. Aber das kann man ja verbessern. In unserem Zimmer hat es stark nach Schimmel gerochen. Ich habe es dem Gastgeber mitgeteilt und er wird nachsehen woher der Geruch kommt. Wir vermuten, dass es einen Wasserschaden in der Decke gab, denn Schimmel gesehen haben wir nicht.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt hier sehr genossen. Der Gastgeber und seine Familie sind sehr herzlich und weltoffen und kümmern sich um jedes Anliegen. Wir haben von ihm die Taxifahrt zur Unterkunft und auch eine Tuktuk Rundfahrt durch die historischen Tempel organisiert bekommen. Beides zu einem sehr fairen Preis. Vor Ort verkauft er Wasser zum Einkaufspreis weiter, so dass man es nicht hinschleppen muss. Wir haben dort auch zu Abend gegessen, was wirklich sehr lecker war. Wenn man in die Stadt fahren möchte, leiht er einem auch Fahrräder aus (ca. 15min Fahrt an Reisfeldern und Fluss entlang). Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt!

Very pleasant stay, the family were kind and friendly. The rural location was lovely and although google shows the access roads into the ancient city, tourist must go via the ticket office by the lake only. For me that was a pleasant walk along the canal road. On the day I visited the ancient city I rented a bike from host, which was a great way to get around and meant I could also cycle to the second lake.

The was a problem with the wifi.

This is such a lovely place in an incredibly quiet and peaceful location, surrounded by nature. Yes, it is basic, but excellent value and Upali and his family make the stay very special. We went on two night walks and although we didn't see some of the rarer animals as it was the wrong time of year, we saw lots of deer, a couple of hornbills, a land crab and fireflies. Highly recommended.

Le cadre très calme et au milieu de la verdure. Pas loin du canal où il est possible de se baigner. La gentillesse de notre hôte, toujours disponible pour tout. Les repas délicieux préparés par notre logeuse ainsi que les petits déjeuners.

The beauty of the porch area and garden is not captured in the photos. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife. The surrounding area was quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed our night walk with our host and saw deer and fireflies. We loved the option to rent bicycles and the ride through the countryside and Polonnaruwa was a highlight of our trip. Our hosts were gracious and very accommodating. Food was great. The room itself is very sparse but clean and we found it to be a tremendous value. An addition of some bedside tables with lamps would be nice to place my eyeglasses and book:)
