Had a great stay at the Poya villa. The location was amazing, with a great design and comfortable spaces room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Hope to visit again soon.

The setting, the nature , the comfort, the staff. Great place to kick back and relax but a bit remote unless you like surfing. A few nice eateries but a busy main road, Tuk Tuk man very nice and reasonable prices.

When you go through the gate onto the beach , don’t whatever you do enter the water at the point . I made that silly mistake and it nearly cost me my life. There is a rip tide at that point to the right of the coral and a sign should be put on the gate . Walk down 100m either side and you’ll be fine , please put up a sign for future guests . I only just made it out and I swim a mile a day in the pool, can’t explain how quickly I tired and panic set in, very scary.

Amazing location. Perfect for popping down to the beach for a surf and the best cafe with the best view in all Weligama upstairs! A fantastic place for breakfast and great cocktails and to watch the sunset. Extremely friendly and helpful staff too.

Great staff, views, close to the beach, and some excellent restaurant options nearby. Simple but quite a nice breakfast made fresh every morning. Spacious rooms with modern bathrooms. Fastest cloth washing service in Sri Lanka!

There were quite a lot of ants in the bathroom and at one time a cockroach fell from the ceiling/roof onto my bed. I wasn't too startled about it but the hotel definitely should replace the seams in the bathroom and try to plug any holes in the ceiling/roof. I couldn't pay with a card. An option for PayPal was provided but that didn't work out for me due to 'technical reasons' which meant that I had to pay in cash. Luckily, I took €1000 in cash with me from the EU and had multiple cards to withdraw money with since foreigners have a daily withdrawal limit of 100k LKR per card. So, be prepared.

We recently stay at Poya Villa, from the moment we arrived when Rasika the caretaker, ushered us to our beautiful pre-chilled room overlooking the beautiful Kabalana beach … we were in heaven. Flanked by some very expensive hotels, Poya offers a million dollar view without the million dollar price. Our room and ensuite were spacious and well appointed and the property is well maintained by the owners. Breakfast of fresh fruit and toast was delightful, presented whenever we returned from our morning surf. The pogola overlooking the beach became our base through the day providing endless entertainment watching the beginner surfers and their spectacular crashes. The chlorine free pool was enjoyable to relax in and the many sun loungers also provided opportunities for great sunset vistas. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Poya Villa, on the quiet end of the Kabalana beach. If you are wishing to avoid the loud, busy, selfie instagramers at the northern end of the beach then we highly recommend Poya Villa.
