La chambre de cette guesthouse est magnifique et très confortable. Magnifique vue notamment pour le lever du soleil sur Ella's rock et Little Adam's pick. Les hôtes sont d'une grande hospitalité. Petit déjeuner et rice and curry sur la terrasse excellents. Notre séjour chez eux reste l'un de nos meilleurs souvenirs au Sri Lanka.

Die Aussicht und der Sonnenaufgang waren herrlich. Morgens wurde man von dem Gezwitscher der Vögel geweckt, die Affen gehören zum Garten dazu. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und herzlich. Wir wurden mit einem Tee empfangen und hatten ein leckeres, landestypische Frühstück. Anfragen/Wünsche wurden umgehend erfüllt. Die Umgebung ist sehr ruhig. Wir können die Unterkunft absolut empfehlen.

Good accomodation in Ella. The room is quite basic but ok for short stay. Beds are big and acceptably comfortable. Breakfast is good but a little small. Quite place.

The room need a makeover, musty smell solved by keeping doors open, wi-fi is very poor.

I had a lovely stay at Sun View Resort in Ella. The room was spacious, clean, and set high amongst the trees, which gave it a peaceful, tucked-away feel I really enjoyed. Summer was a friendly and helpful host, and I appreciated his welcoming attitude. Just a note for future travellers: while the location is beautifully serene, it costs around Rs. 1000 to 1200 for a tuk-tuk one way to the main road. The hot water was a bit inconsistent during my stay, but overall, I had a comfortable and restful time. Thank you for the hospitality. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, nature-filled escape.

Friendly staff and very safe place

The room is - compared to other accommodations - bigger than we had expected. It's clean and rather comfortable. The bathroom is functional and the bed comfortable. The terrace offers a nice view to Little Adam's Peak and the surrounding area. The breakfast was Sri Lanka style and really tasty (we loved the coconut pancakes). You can get hot water for coffee or tea upon request.

The mouldy smell was beyond our expectations, everything was damp and wet, like when you enter the basement of an old building (however, there seems to be an issue with mould in the whole Ella region, so it might be the same in other accommodations). The same holds for the access road: there are two ways to the property. The first one is an extremely steep road which was even too much for our 125 cc scooter (2 people on it). That's the way Google Maps guides you to the accommodation, yet the host did not inform us about that and did not advise us to use the other one. The second access road - the host calls it the "good road" - is still steep and only a dirt road with huge potholes. Even as an experienced scooter driver it was hard, especially at night (and after rain) when you want to go for a sunrise tour to Ella Rock or Little Adam's Peak. The view from the terrace is really good. Unfortunately, there is construction work at the nearby building, meaning that you have some noise all day long and as soon as the building is finished, the view will probably be gone. There is also construction noise from above, as another story is currently added to the property. Last, the dog barks a lot (on two occasions 45 min non-stop), two light bulbs weren't working, one pillow was extremely (!) hard, there is no kettle in the room (but you get hot water upon request), and due to the high humidity and no AC, the water after taking a shower takes ages to dry.

No one had a detailed review about the City or this place. Ella by itself is very expensive for no reason compared to other parts of country. To me its a complete rip off on foreign folks. I would never recommend more than one night at this city as its not worth the expense including travel and food. This stay place just compounds to that. We were two adults and two teens. 1.0 Getting there with Tuk Tuk is a problem. Most of them just stop 250m before this place where you might have lug through narrow steps to reach. The tuk tuk rate to this place is min 1000LKR. 2.0 There is nothing near by to grab for eating around this place. You are pretty much stuck helpless 3,0 The food they provide is a complete rip off, Its not even 25% of money worthiness. Just a basic Rice and Curry costs 1500LKR per person. The breakfast you get is one small palm size Srilankan Rotti and a pancake with filling and tea . The portion size is not enough for a teen. 3.0 Even the first day water bottles provided are charged at 150LKR. 4.0 There were two cots with very very basic beds and sheet over it. There is nothing else there in the room. 5.0 WIFI never works there. First day there were bit of rain and the person told if there is cloud it does not work But next day with sun as well, it never works. 5.0 He charges 5K LKR for just taking a guide trip to Ella Rock for three hrs. 6.0 The view from outside the room has blocked valley view by the trees. You have to climb up the stairs for clear view. 7.0 If you end up using their clothes washer facility, then you will be taken for a ride. So be prepared for when you make a choice, 8.0 I had planned three night stay and after checking in immediately I decided to cancel the third night. 9.0 The owner / caretaker has two faces. I got to see both the faces before and after handing over the bill. Please check all the pricing before you take any service, at this place. This long comment is to know what to expect when anyone books.
