Wild View Stay

Very nice owners.

One of the best accommodations, food, and of course hosts we had in Sri Lanka so far. This place is so near to nature that we saw two types of hornbills (one couple hornbills came and hit our window:) ), Giant Squirrels (Mummy with baby twice). This is the best base to cover Sigiriya and Dambulla. You can easily see wild elephants on the nearby road. And yes, how we can forget the firefly, and tree frog- gave us a nice visit in our room.

Everything is good. Just water gets finish in the tank quite often, but hosts fix it in 2 seconds.

This lovely home stay is in a hidden location surrounded by wilderness. There are patios with seating on the second and ground floors that you can use to relax and look out into the greenery. The room was not especially large but fine for a single person; might be tight if there are two of you. Air conditioning works well. WIFI was slow so I just used my phone as a hotspot. The large washroom had standard Asian fixtures, shower and toilet. Thushara and his wife Menu were exceptional hosts. Warm and friendly, always eager to please. Thushara welcomed me with a cold drink after I arrived. Since we were going to Sigirya for the sunrise, they got up early to pack me some fruit for the trip. As well, Thushar walked me out to the main road to meet my driver for which I was thankful for as it was pitch black in the wilderness pre-dawn. The breakfasts were exceptional. Usually, a combination of some of the following: medu vada, muffins, pani pol pancakes filled with coconut and jaggery, string hoppers, fried egg, bread, fruit, and tea – a veritable feast each morning. Breakfasts are served al fresco on the patios which is a delightful and peaceful way to start to the day. They also arranged for laundry service which was done in one day. However, I discovered the laundry prices are much higher than what it was in Ella, so plan accordingly. Athreya Ayurveda Spa is an excellent ayurvedic spa located about 5 minutes drive away in the town. My guide said he has tried several in the country and he proclaimed this one is the best and it was.

It was difficult finding the place since the sign in front did not exactly match the booking (slight wording differences). We had to call them to check after going up and down the small dirt road in front of their place. Also note that the dirt road is filled with ruts and potholes and can only really accommodate traffic going in one direction and it is hard to turn around. Not their fault but be warned. It might be easier for tuks tuks but it's rough for cars and their suspensions. Afterwards, my driver opted to park on the main asphalt road and waited for me to walk out to meet him, rather than subject his car to the poor road conditions. There were two times that the water in the shower was not working but they quickly rectified it after I informed them.

Amazing stay

This is an excellent location in Habarana if you have a car/driver, and close to the main road if you are using public transport, but at the same time it is very quiet and private. The lovely hosts provided an evening meal on request on my second day and a very good breakfast. There's a little deck where guests can sit and relax. The room was very clean and comfortable, and any issues quickly and competently addressed (eg wifi connection initially)
