Lonely Beach Resort Tangalle

Perfect place to get away from the hustle bustle of tourist towns like Mirissa or Hikkaduwa.

Really quiet place, beach view, spacious. Surrounded by nature. Outside of town, which is both - pro and con :-)

Not possible to swim (rocks, currents), you have to go further. We could not use their kayaks because paddles were broken and they did not care to fix them. You have to use tuktuk on dusty road to get there.

Location was good staff were very helpful. Good value breakfast was good

Bedding pillow a little hard.

Outstanding view which was right on the beach, close to motor scooter rental, polite hosts who really looked after us. Happy smiling faces, comfortable rooms. The facility was well maintained and had a lovely covered outdoor area for meals.

it was a really nice stay, directly on the beach with a beautiful breakfast view. the home owners were really friendly and cooked a lovely breakfast each morning.

AMAZING - I love this place I travelled on a budget for 4 months, and this place was absoulutely fantastic! Next to a beautiful lonely beach, amazing host, great food, sometimes he even fished a fresh fish for me Nice Restaurant, good atmosphere, and free Kajak , beautiful kayaking in the lagoon with a lot of mangroves, birrds,... GREAT!

Location is a dream. Right on the beach ,just a few steps to the ocean. We didnt see turtles at night but saw their tracks in the sand. You can canoe the nearby lagoon. Food was freshly made, sri lankan style. Very nice and the staff is amazing

The rooms are outdated. Mattress quite hard. Fan in room, no AC, we just had one blanket tho which was a bit tricky

I loved the location on this quiet beach miles from the busy touristy areas. I was in the building with three floors and had the top floor. Other people have said the room is basic but I didn't think so. For a beachside property I think it was perfect. There's a wardrobe, table and chair and a place to put your bags on. And the fan was adequate to keep me cool at night. Although the views of the sea were mostly obscured by the coconut palms from the top florr it was still really beautiful and there was a great balcony with comfy lounge chairs, and it was also nice to have a hammock to relax in as well. The staff were really friendly and helpful and made me feel really welcome. The property is right next to a lagoon where you can borrow kayaks for no cost. There are lots of water monitors, and you can see lots of birds and langur monkeys in the mangroves if your go a bit further down. Finally, the sea can be quite rough (I got thrown around in the waves) but if you time your entry properly to avoid the big crashing waves it's really lovely and warm. I'll be coming back for sure.

Due to there not being enough guests the restaurant was sadly closed. There's only breakfast available which is toast, jam and fruit. But there are two restaurants at the two high end resorts either side. And for better and cheaper Sri Lankan food, including local breakfast you can walk 15mins along the beach to the Peacock Family Homestay.

Lonely Beach Resort was really beautiful. I stayed a total of 12 days, residing in the top floor room with a beautiful view through palm trees to the beach. The balcony is very spacious, great for yoga or chilling out in the 2 lounge chairs. The room itself is not 40m2 however including the terrace it is. I preferred this place to the frontline beach bungalows of other places, because it's moire protected from the wind and it's still only 150 meters until you can dive into the Ocean. What's great about the area is that there are kind of pools between the shoreline and some rocks further outside, where you even children can safely bathe. The sea can be rough otherwise. If you're used to waves and can swim ok, I found it no problem to go swim. 200m away there are no more rocks and you can swim until Antactica. The beach is amazing, it goes on forever. It's possible to walk toward town, which will take you maybe 30 minutes. Breakfast was great, especially the fruit, which was lovingly selected, ripe and tasty. There is no lunch and dinner served, however there are 3 restaurants next door and other options a bit further down the beach. Wifi comes through a 4G router - like everywhere - and works surprisingly well. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful in all regards. I really felt at home. When I arrived on December 21st there were hardly any tourists on the beach, after Christmas it picked up a bit and still, it's super quiet around here. Everybody is glad that tourists are coming back. I felt completely safe and despite inflation and some shortages - like a rationing of gasoline, which does not apply to foreigners - everything you need for a nice beach vacation is available.

The place does not have - like the neighboring resorts, which cost aprox. triple - beach chairs etc. which are directly on the beach -somethings that I didn't miss.
