Lonely Beach Resort Tangalle

This was my second visit here and it was as good as the last time. Excellent location and the perfect place to relax for a few days. There's kayaking and swimming if you want to be more active (though you need to take care with the strong waves) or you can relax in the hammock or on your balcony. There are a few restaurants walking distance away if you want to try something different. You're far from shops in Tangalle town though so bring enough cash.

The bathroom is a bit dated, and there's no mesh behind the louvres, so you can get insects (and frogs!) coming into your room.

Location, quietness , nature

We loved the room and its terrace. It was opening straight to the beach. The location is rather remote and this is what makes it special. There were food options on the beach within the walking distance. Close to the turtle sanctuary.

Easily the best accommodation we have had on our one month long trip through the island. Incredibly friendly staff, amazing affordable local food optiones (that you can even pre-order so it's ready at a certain time) situated right by the ocean and next to a huge lagoon (that you can also swim in and explore with their kayaks for free). The rooms are clean, spacious and with a great view. After staying for 2 nights we came back for an additional 2 nights at the end of our trip since we like it so much. Especially at that price, there is probably no other resort nearby that can top this place in my opinion.

Wifi worked very poorly. They add a 10% service charge on your bill. Room gets plenty of flies and little bugs through air vents which have no screen as soon as you switch on the light for an evening.

A lovely quiet remote place to stay. So peaceful and relaxing. Excellent value for money. The accommodation is quite basic but fits with the setting. The staff were amazing and so helpful. Really appreciated the pots of tea that were brought to us on the terrace!

Location is next to a not so crowded beach area and possibility to explore the indoor waters with a canoe. Breakfast is available against additional costs. Check in was very smooth.

The view from the balcony is just stunning on the ocean and the mangrove. Sitting on the balcony at evenings, hearing the ocean, is an absolutely lovely experience. The room is clean and the staff really friendly. The food served at the hotel varies and is always really good. The beach around the hotel is really amazing. Nearby, different cafes, restaurants and spas are available.

The mattress was a little hard. It wasn’t much of a problem for two nights, but might be an issue for a longer stay. Also it might be that little frogs and geckos get into the room through little slits at the windows.
