Romance in Ella

Amazing view. Especially at Sunrise. Magical. Sanjee and his family are such lovely hosts. Sanjee was soo helpful running us about in his tuk tuk.

Great place tucked away in nature with a 10/10 view. Sanjee is a great host and is always willing to help however he can. He booked us a cooking class nearby and it was great. Pictures of the view don’t do this place justice. 100% recommend!

Magnificent views + a good breakfast

The room had a couple of small mice, as the windows / doors have gaps between them and the walls.

Absolutely incredible property! It was my favourite accommodation throughout my time in Sri Lanka. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The shower looks amazing but functionally not great, as it's more of a low power pour. Don't expect change when you pay in LKR. They only accept LKR, not USD. We learned that most properties in Sri Lanka state in booking.com that they accept USD - cash only, when the the reality is LKR cash only.

I have literally spent years travelling all over the world, but have never found "a room with a view" to rival "Romance in Ella". The spacious open plan layout combines natural rock with stylish finishes, with glass all around to optimise the spectacular landscape. You can drift off to sleep to the distant roar of the waterfall across the valley. Sanjee (owner and host) is a cool guy and very helpful, as are his family. The breakfast is substantial and delicious. I wish we had stayed longer!

• We encountered FOUR rats in the room, along with a centipede and a leech. • The bed netting has several holes, allowing rodents to enter. • While the location is in a forested area, having rodents in the room is unacceptable and made our stay uncomfortable. • Considering the cost of the stay, these issues should be addres sed to ensure a better experience for guests.

Comfy bed and pillows, beautiful views! Breakfast was good. Friendly host.

Much like many buildings in Sri Lanka, it’s not airtight so the ”natural ventilation” brings in many creatures of the jungle.
