Ella River Front

The view was incredible! Very helpful staff, comfortable room and bed, everything we needed, comfortable seats on the balcony to enjoy the view, tea and coffee provided, hot water shower, mosquito net.

Because of the hill side location it was a bit challenging to drive the car to - the roads are very narrow so you get stuck if another vehicle is coming the other way, and some parts are really steep. We decided to get tuk tuks whilst we were there so we didn’t have the same issue with the car coming in and out.

Fantastic views from our balcony. Could walk into town to some steps and along the railway line.

The room was beautiful and very clean, and the view from the terrace was just magnificent! The hotel is about a 12 minute walk from the centre so it was very quiet and we saw so many birds and monkeys in the canopy right below the terrace. Staff were extremely helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at the river front, it was close to the town area but far enough away that the night time noise you didn't hear. The view was beautiful and the breakfast was lovely although a lot (the monkeys tried to get in on it as well). Our family really liked being i the nature and experiencing this part of the country. The staff were helpful as well. Rooms were some of the most comfy we had during our time.

The property had an incredible view of the mountains and a waterfall opposite. The staff were friendly but not really around much. We didn’t have breakfast at the property. You need a tuktuk to get into Ella or a 10-15 min walk on winding roads.

The staff weren’t around much. Their English wasn’t so good. But this wasn’t really a problem.

I usually only write reviews if a place was great, but this place was so bad I had to write in. The one thing that was as described – the views were truly spectacular. Everything else about our stay was worse than disappointing!

I honestly cannot understand why this hotel got so many stellar reviews, as our experience was NOTHING like what was described. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the management has suddenly changed. We arrived at the time I had advised in advance, yet there was no one on hand to greet us. The place was wide open, there was just no one there! We called out, poked around, then finally after a ½ hour we were able to get someone on the phone, who arrived in 5 minutes. No explanation or apology (to be fair, the man didn’t speak English). This man, not particularly friendly or helpful (rather surly, actually) was the only employee we saw the entire time. We had two rooms, both were very run down and unclean (floors and sheets, in particular - gross). No TV in the room as described (there were wires in the wall where a TV might have been previously), the fridge was unplugged and stank, as did the water boiler. No towels or toilet paper in our room, although these were brought when we asked. Also, no hot water in either our room or our daughter’s! Other reviewers raved about the great showers, that wasn’t our experience. Other things promised that were nowhere to be seen: toiletries, bathrobe, alarm clock, socket near the bed. No concierge service or tour desk (we had written a week ahead of time with questions about tours, never got an answer). And certainly not a 24-hour front desk. Overall, the place just felt really neglected. We asked about breakfast, but apparently since we didn’t order it in advance it wasn’t available (the listing made it seem as if there was a working restaurant on site – it was deserted). Seriously, though, I don’t know what’s going on with this place but I would strongly urge others to avoid it at all costs!

This place has an amazing view. Truly breathtaking, The host was super friendly. We had to leave early in the morning and couldn't make it for breakfast. He packed us some pastries and fresh fruit, which was very sweet.
