Dulmini Homestay

Really beautiful spot a bit higher up from Ella. Lovely family that truly made you feel like home. The food was amazing and you get soooo much. As it is a bit higher in the mountains, own transport or taxi/tuktuk is recommended. Thanks for having us and we would definitely come back if we are around.

Dulmini Homestay is run by a family. I had one of the best homestay experiences with them. The property is surrounded by greenery and a bit of wild, it is in a small estate. The view is spectacular with all the hills around. We also saw a group of monkeys and a big wild squirrel on trees while having breakfast. The property has only one room, so you will have this small property all by yourself. The room was spacious and so was the bathroom. I highly recommend having at least a meal and breakfast at the place, it was one of the best food I tried in Sri Lanka. Ravidu's mother cooks delicious food, and meals will be served at the property outside, on the porch. Raviddu will also arrange a scooter if you like and at a very reasonable price, cheaper than what you will get in the town. The property is 2 km away from the town in serenity.

Of the structure we only enjoyed the view from the room into the nature

Really bad management. Our host didn’t know how to organize a breakfast service. For this reason, we lose the entire first morning to wait our food. The structure is in the middle of the jungle, good for the view, bad for the transport (a normal car can’t reach the entrance and for this reason they tried to charge you the 300 meters tuktuk ride to the place…). The worst thing was the dialogue with the owner’s son. In my life I never found an arrogant kid like him. He answer to our messagge making fun of us, and block us on whatsapp when we were trying to explain our complainings… To all, avoid this place.

It’s a bit out of town therefore very calm and amazing view. The dinner was homecooked and amazing for reasonable prices. We could rent a scooter there. The owner helped us with all our problems and questions, even organised a TukTuk to town last minute. Really recommended!

The room was a bit moldy.

This was a perfect oasis in Ella - located on the hill, very beautiful views, so peaceful! You’re surrounded by nature on a beautiful terrace. The family is very nice and the meals were the most delicious Sri Lankan food we ever tried!!! So tasty!

Great little family owned guest house. They provided me with tea, biscuits and fresh fruit on arrival, an amazing dinner and delicious breakfast. The room was spacious. The owner took me for a walk to see the temple from a view point while it was lit up at night. The bathroom was very clean and there was warm enough water for a shower.

Not a bad thing but they speak minimal English some things were lost in translation. Also please note the location is quite far up the hill which I like so peace and quiet but may be hard for other people to get to.

We had a very pleasant stay in Dulmini homestay. The hosts are very kind. It’s a beautiful family ready to help where possible. You get a private, spacious room with bathroom and terrace which has an amazing view over the valley. You can see the mountains right from your bed! The family also offer breakfast and dinner as extra service and both are very good, homemade by the mother of the family. When the breakfast is ready - served on our own terrace - the son rang our room bell to let us now. You open the door and are greeted with a nicely served table and the morning sun behind it. What an experience!

Amazing view and very clean

The homestay is located in a beautiful and quite area of Ella , surronded by nature . Big room with huge terrace , everything very clean with hot water and wifi working perfectly. I had breakfast and dinner and the food is incredible tasty . The service provided exceed my expectations, 10 points is too low , the guesthouse deserves 100! If you are hiking stage 16 or 15 of the Pekoa trail , don't think twice , this is the place to stop . Highly recommended it
