Ironsands B&B

Great place - I had the single room, but there's an enormous shared living room, the kitchen is well equipped and bathroom is clean. Also a pleasant terrace to sit outside for dinner. WiFi is great and check-in easy.

House was damp from inadequate showers fans. Nearly ran out of towels. Water damage in bedroom ceilings/ceiling thought out. Bedding was changed once in 2weeks. Bed bugs or fleas in double bedroom i sleep in I have bits everywhere on my body Tried killing them with fly spray worked a little. Breakfast cereals all stale. Floors needed vacuuming. Can’t open all windows because the windows that need to be open are broken. Doors sticks and has to be forced closed which disturbs other people from their sleep. No I didn’t do a runner. And didn’t appreciate the conversation that took place with a couple of family members that you know. You just hadn’t waited while my wife in Perth transferred the money from bank to bank. I also see you’ve changed your payment/cancelation policy. It was cash up in hand which I was willing to pay day by day as we discussed. No more tax evasion. One last thing Kia ora and NGĀ mihi 🤣

The breakfast was good and filling. The location was good for my purpose of a place to stay on my way North for a night. The place is similar to a Kiwi bach with used facilities but totally adequate. The internet was fast and the big screen excellent. The A/C was very good as it was a hot day when I arrived. The bathroom was good. Maybe you might like to provide body wash as an extra? The price is what you would expect to pay for the facilities. It's not an upmarket place with shiny new stuff but is good for what it is. The closest dairy has decent fish and chips.

The lockbox has confusing instructions so I had to ring up. It suggests that you push the button and then remove the whole cover but it's only the central part so I would suggest rewriting the instructions by the lock box. A number of windows had notes to say don't open as the catches are broken so it would be good to see those repaired for good security and a home handyman could easily buy the catches from Mitre 10 and install them for low cost. There no real restaurants in Patea so I had to get food from the local dairy. There was no option to pay on arrival which is what I ticked when booking so I my credit card was charged which was not my preference. Overall I was happy with my stay

Only one toilet and bathroom for 4 rooms. Bed in single very hard

Hosts had made the effort to supply some breakfast provisions, which was appreciated. The bathroom we had access to had been updated & was clean. Towels & linen also clean.

The property smelled musty & some windows could not be opened (marked as such accompanied by a request not to open) for this reason. The place is in dia need of an overhaul. Outside on the garden table was an empty tin can, I suspect used as some form of rubbish or ash . I appreciate everyone's standards are different but unfortunately for me I would not be in a position to recommend.

The continental breakfast was a bonus. Especially liked that we were the only ones at the property. Far enough away from the main road noise.

The house needed to be aired prior to arrival of guests or have more air flow as it was a little musty.

I would say excellent myself! Was nice and spacious, the cleaning service and restock of the foods for breakfast was also good. I personally thought it was nice and cosy.

Was a great stay. No complaints from us.

The breakfast is very nice, with multiple options and variety. It is spotless and comfortable; it feels like home.

Generous breakfast items were supplied. Excellent location with easy access to town, a short drive, or easy walk.

I was happy with everything
