Guruge villa

Great host, great location, wish I could have stayed longer

You arrive at the property as a guest and then leave with a close friend in Guruge and his wife. You feel at home, you are fed with local cuisine at no extra cost and treated like family - Guruge will assist you in all your needs. Location is quiet and calm while being a 2 minute walk from the bus, railway and beach. Its ideal. I extended my one week stay for an extra two weeks as do most guests.

Guruge is one of the friendliest hostel owners I have met and he provided me and the other guests with good company and good advice for things to do in Hikkaduwa. I planned to stay a couple of night and stayed over a week chilling around Hikkaduwa and in his beautiful garden

Everything was excellent

The hostel owner is so lovely. He showed us his garden and made a huge local breakfast for a really good price. He alo allowed my friend who was not staying there to come as well. The rooms were basic but very clean.

The vibe could have been a bit more social although the place had a nice hangout area. The rooms could use a locker for your valuables. Also each bed should get a blanket (we asked for one and got a towel as a blanket which was alright). Those are only small suggestions I would definetly recommend staying there!

Had such a good stay Guruges Villa. Guruge is so friendly and helpful. He organised me a scooter rental to a very good price. He recommended me cheap and good restaurants in the area as well. He was really caring and showed me what I can do around the area. Guruges Garden is so lovely, calm and chilled. Had such a nice stay there. There were many mosquitos though but Guruge offered me mosquito spray. I have met some nice travellers as well there.

The place is quiet, and just perfect to chill out. The house is sourranded by a beautiful tropical garden. Guruge helps me a lot during my stay and provided banana and ginger from his garden!

He asks if I want fresh ginger tea sometimes and gave me everyday a lot of bananas from his garden. I got a second towel for the gym and a blanket. Everything was soo good

I am not fan of Cold shower and a toilette which gets wet from shower. No soap, everything else perfect

Guruge was so nice and friendly, honestly couldn’t help you enough, he even took me to the station and the beach. Gave you so much advice on the area. Gave you fruit from his garden, even gave me some homemade Sri Lankan food. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Loads of mosquitos and other insects. Wear long pants in the evening and in the morning. Not very many other travellers here

Very nice and quiet place, although very close to the center and to the beach. Its like ur in the jungle with monkeys and all kind of birds. The host guruge and his wife are very friendly and helpful and giving u good information about hikkaduwa. Guruge is born there and knows the place very well. I can absolutely recommend this place, also for a longer stay
